Great hotel near the famous blue lagoon spa. Staff were wonderful and food in Max's restaurant was delicious.

Average accommodation close to blue lagoon
Close to Blue lagoon however the Power plant close by spoils the atmosphere. The staff are super friendly and the inn has a Nice lounge area. Beds are confortable and the rooms are comparatively large. Parts of the inn need a refirbishment. The name “Northern light inn” can be deceiving as I don’t think it would be easy to see the lights considering the light pollution around the inn.

This place is great. We stayed just one night for a stopover in Iceland on our way back from Spain. Staff was friendly, room was clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant is great, and the 24-hour honesty bar is a nice touch. The free shuttle to and from the blue lagoon is very useful. Would recommend.

The location and views were awful. The hotel is located adjacent to a geothermal power plant. I would not recommend this hotel. I think it is over priced for the location, room quality and general amenities.

Clean, friendly staff, very good restaurant, within walking distance of Blue Lagoon. A car is must if staying more than one night as, except for the Blue Lagoon, there is nothing near by.

Booking rate and charges jumped from $389.96 to $410.98 , why?,, Request a taxi from hotel to airport on arrival for next morning early flights , not done, thank goodness I wake up early and one taxi could do it

Hi Nicola, we charge in local currency and there are fluctuation between USD and ISK which is quite normal, especially for a small currency as the Icelandic krona

The property gives off a roadside motel vibe. It's situated directly beside a major power station. The room design feels cold, lacks warmth. It is impractical for extended stays. While the restaurant is decent, it doesn't stand out. The staff is pleasant and makes a genuine effort. However, I don't foresee a return visit.

What a nice simple property. Staff was amazing. Used the sauna and meditation area. Excellent after a long flight. Food was delicious and service was great. Would easily stay there again.

A nice property right next to the Blue Lagoon and convenient to the Keflavik Airport. The have a full service restaurant and all your major needs covered. They have an exceptional guest lounge and honor bar to relax and enjoy.

Wonderful staff, friendly helpful reception, cosy lounge with an honesty bar. Good size rooms. Max’s restaurant was great, good quality food. If you are going to the Blue Lagoon, it’s incredibly close. Dont be put out off by the geothermal power station, or the ugly lava rock that surrounds the hotel, it’s just what it is. Great local things to go an experience from steam vents, bubbling mud pools, and a great hike to the mouth of the lava flow from July 2023.

It was very lovely. Food was excellent. Very close to Blue Lagoon which is where we were going. They had a shuttle, but we walked 1.5 miles Also close to the airport

Amazing hotel
The staff at the Northern Lights Inn was over the top helpful and kind (especially Gabor). We were all exhausted from being on the go for 15 days and they were very patient and provided excellent info to us. They also have a beautiful restaurant where the food and staff was fantastic as well. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone. They have a free shuttle, but it's walking distance to the Blue Lagoon and the rooms were huge and clean. Thank you so much for making our short stay in Iceland a memorable one!

Great hotel for a quick layover and Blue Lagoon trip. Although the hotel offered a shuttle to the lagoon we really enjoyed the walk. Staff was great and helpful, dinner at hotel was nice, and the room was nice.

We picked the location from a map due to proximity to Golden Circle sites and the reviews indicated this was the best choice in the area. The staff was nice and small lobby restaurant surprisingly good, but this is a hostel so the accomodations were very spartan. Bathrooms on 2nd floor are shared for many guests on 2nd and 3rd floors and are too few, and you have to leave your shoes at the hotel front door so the combo is a little weird. Rooms were clean, but we were told to close our windows due to the black flies and there are no fans or a/c of any kind so it was very stuffy. Beds are like dorm room beds - hard. If you’re looking for a clean, kind of funky place to stay cheaply along the Golden Circle this fits the bill. If you want any measure of comfort or amenities, would not recommend.

Hi Tyler, you must be mixing us up with some other hotel as we only have one floor and all our room have private bathroom with its toilet and walk-in shower. You have been staying at a hotel with 3 floors according to your review and we don't have that many floors.

The property is in a remote area, within walking distance of Blue Lagoon but nothing else is within reasonable distance. Staff at Hotel was great, Breakfast and Dinner was excellent.

The hosts make this place stand out. They are friendly, warm, and funny. They’ve created a space where you can enjoy alone time or gather around a table and converse with people from around the world. Plus they make great food (get that breakfast)! The accommodations were very clean and comfortable and the views can’t be beat. We will definitely be back if we ever return to Iceland.

We enjoyed our stay at the Northern Lights Inn. Gador at the reception gave us some good tips how to go around by renting a car vs taking taxis as they as super expensive. We chose to stay here as it is just a few minutes ride to the Blue Lagoon. And they have a shuttle that can take you to and from the Lagoon.

Situated right next to a big power plant. Occasional sulfur smell depending on winds. Bathroom had the smallest sink I’ve ever seen (about #30 x 20 cm) and a small shelf sticking out above it,preventing you from washing your face without splashing water everywhere! Right next to Blue Lagoon,but very overpriced for the quality of the room.

A very nice place- and nice restaurant with friendly staff. The issue for us was the strong sulfur odor due to the geothermal plant adjacent to the hotel. Outside the hotel it comes and goes but it was pretty constant in our room. We were offered a room change but the new room had the same odor.

A Good Choice
The location of the Northern Lights Inn makes it the perfect spot to stay when visiting the Blue Lagoon. But it was an experience all on its own. Friendly staff, a good breakfast in a nice dining room, pleasant living room, a special room to view the sky, and free coffee all added to our nice stay.
