"A quaint Ryokan with everything you need- private onsen if you want one in your room, breakfast and dinner. Breakfast has options of western or Japanese. The room we stayed in was clean and our onsen was great. We stayed in the lower floor and the only thing I can really nit pick is that the lower floor and our room had a subtle but noticeable scent of mold. Other than that, our stay was great. Staff was very kind, and the hotel is a bus stop for the main Inzan bus and the other main bus which was very convenient. We didn’t try the public baths or venture to their exhibit on the second floor. Coffee came from a machine in the lobby, accessible 24 hrs. If you want a unique experience, this place is one I would recommend. Just know that it looks older and quaint in comparison to other hotels but that’s part of its charm."

"We really enjoyed our stay in Matsuzakaya Honten! The staff were very hospitable, accommodating and helpful, and the ryokan was very clean and modern, while still retaining its historical charm. We marveled at how it was like staying in a museum, a slice of history, just because of how beautifully preserved everything was. Special shoutout to Ridhan, Hema and the front desk staff (a friendly thai lady with front bangs - apologies, we didn’t manage to get your name!) who were excellent and kind to us throughout our stay."

"we adored Hata-San, our helpful friend at the hotel. the dinner and breakfast were both incredible. bathhouses were relaxing and clean. the Hakone day pass made it so easy to get everywhere but don’t forget to take time at the ryokan to re-center after travel!"
