"I stay in a lot of hotels and I’ve never written a review or walked out on a stay before this experience. It was so bad that we handed the key back and didn’t stay. Where do I begin? The smells (like cat urine), the drywall mud patches on the walls, dirty, terrible. I’ve been in touring bands for years, toured all over Canada and the USA (even oilpatch Alberta) and I’ve never seen a property this run down in my life. The owners refusal to refund my money or even offer explanation is wild. VRBO...

Best Western Pembroke Inn & Conference Centre

"The best part was the waitress at breakfast. A real star server. And the sound proofing was excellent - we did not hear all the children next door. Check-in and out were underwhelming. Front desk staff Monday morning was a tad curt."

"An amazingly peaceful and serene resort perfect for a couple's getaway, or quite time with friends. The restaurant food was really really good. My only complaint was the lack of airconditioning in the cabins (and more importantly the lack of air flow, meant that the room was way too hot on one particular humid night. AC really wouldn't be needed most nights, but good airflow is a must."

"The property is showing its age. One wing of the hotel was a long walk from the front desk and there are no elevators. Additionally, there were no fully closable curtains. This meant people could see into the room at night and light from outside could not be kept out. I thought it very odd. Other than that, my stay was pleasant."

"Highly recommend, especially if you want to enjoy visiting Bon Echo and the area but aren't able to camp. The rooms are quiet and well maintained, the staff is fabulous. Each room has air conditioning and heat, depending on what you need, plus a mini fridge, micro, tv, wifi, etc., and there is a restaurant and bar on site open most days. They also have a fire pit out back guests are able to use, an ice cream counter, and a pool table in the bar. If you need anything, staff are happy to help. We stayed cool during the heatwave, safe during the storms, and entertained when the weather was too much. The only thing I wish was different is that they don't offer room cleaning during stays which means if you're going to stay longer than a few nights, bring some cleaning supplies with you. We stayed for one night last fall as we were passing through and it was totally fine, but this trip I stayed eight nights with three kids 10 and under - one in diapers - and took them to beach and woods every day. Things got very messy very quickly and I wished someone could have popped in with a vacuum and to collect the garbage every few days (I took our garbage upstairs every few days and ended up just buying a broom), but otherwise it was excellent. We'll definitely be going back and are looking forward to our next visit. Such a great experience."
