Worked amazing for our entire group while working in Hannibal for the month. Had everything readily available for check in, tons of supplies and fully stocked kitchen. Made for a great home away from home monthly stay for us all . Plenty of room for our entire group.
Walking distance to downtown Hannibal, historic feel, clean and well stocked; it was everything we were looking for in a weekend trip headquarters. We highly recommend coffee on the front porch with a view of the river and happy hour in the private backyard. Comfy beds and nice bathrooms too! The hosts are awesome. They made everything about our stay super easy. We look forward to staying here again!
There was plenty of room, a lot of history and unique character. The only reason i didnt give a 5 star rating was a few things i communicated with the owner. She was very nice about it.
We had a hiccup the original house we had returned was damaged but we were put into a different house and was accompanied for the change. The only thing was some of the locals were less than desirable. Otherwise was all great!!
We really enjoyed staying in an old home. It helped us imagine life like Samuel Clemens would have lived it. We were given a helpful restaurant guide as well.
This home had plenty of space and a great deal of character and charm. HVAC is old and we stayed during a heat wave so it was blazing hot and took forever to cool down but that’s what happens when you stay in a historic place. Be prepared for that, if you don’t expect modern amenities you will love it. If you expect modern and new this is not the place for you.

Historical but challenging
This is the property we booked but not the property we actually stayed at. Found out at the very last minute that we were being moved to a different property, close by but with one less bedroom. It worked out ok, but not ideal. Property manager was very nice and responsive.
We had such high hopes for this adventure. I took my mom 76 and her two cousins 71 and 65 on their dream, Mark Twain adventure. We were so looking forward to sitting on the porch and enjoying the beautiful view of the Mississippi river as described on the website. Unfortunately, you can’t do that. You can’t see the Mississippi and the porch is falling in. There were no handrails for them to climb the many steps into the home. The trashcan out front was over running. The grass was grown up in the backyard and would not be comfortable to sit in. The banister was very shaky so I had my reservations about the ladies climbing the stairs, which were filthy. There were holes in the ceiling, large enough for a possum to get in. A main concern was that we found screws and nails all in the floor sticking up, a safety hazard The window units that were in the windows could easily be pushed out from the outside. They didn’t fit in the windows and the holdings on the side just pushed clean out. The bathroom upstairs shower barely trickled water. We called the host that evening to convey our concerns in hopes that we could get a refund and only stay the one night. We were very kind in our conversation, she was not. She told us that we had insulted her and we needed to get out immediately and hug up on my mom. Unfortunately, there was a tornado warning in the area and a horrible thunderstorm. VRBO called us and we left in a downpour of rain. We did receive a full refund thank God.
The house was everything we’d hoped for. Lots of room for our friends group of five. Comfortable beds and sitting areas. Close to downtown shopping. We’ll equipped. Just perfect!
My family love all over Missouri. 4 generations on my dad’s side were able to stay at this property and we had a great time making memories. The older generations loved the antiques of the house, my generation loved the ease of finding everything we needed, and the youngest generation loved the stairs and games.
We had a great weekend getaway and this property helped to make it all the more enjoyable. It is gorgeous and so close to downtown. Very clean, beds were comfortable, exactly as described. There was a heatwave and they had already removed the window ac units for the season. I messaged the owner and she had someone bring by fans while we were out sightseeing for the day.
This was our second stay at the Admiral Fuqua House while attending a local weekend workshop. The house was perfect for our multi-generational family. Well-appointed kitchen allowed us to cook meals "at home" and the dining table had room for our group and more. With plenty of bedrooms, as well as two comfy living rooms, there was always a place to gather and visit together, or rest on your own.
If you need anything during your stay (or if you've foolishly left something behind), the owners are extremely kind and helpful, and very responsive.
With plenty of parking, a short walk to downtown amenities, a lovely view, and plenty of room for the whole family, the Admiral Fuqua House is an excellent family retreat while visiting Hannibal.
This place was just exactly what it is listed. It was amazing, beautiful and totally what the 6 of us were looking for. The owners were always available and with quick responses. I will definitely recommend. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Everything went perfectly. Description of property was accurate. All amenities were what we expected. Would definitely come back. Not the Taj Mahal. Very comfortable.
The home was beautiful a d spacious. Fit the family without us being in top of eachother. Dining table allowed us all to eat together. The side yard provided great shade for yard games. Washer and dryer was a great feature.
We enjoyed a long, relaxing weekend at this Victorian home just a short walk from the historic sites of Hannibal. This historic house was well-appointed, spacious, and comfortable. The owners have renovated much of the house and are updated bathrooms. With four large bedrooms, two living rooms, dining room and kitchen, there is plenty of room to relax inside. Plus porches in front and back provide opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. The owners were very responsive to questions and provided many suggestions for activities and places to eat in the area. We had a great time.
We had the best time. Walked to town, Rockcliffe mansion, a must see, riverboat, and neighborhood which is full of beautiful old homes.
Very nice accommodation if you are looking to step back in time and relax on the front porch with a coffee or wine. Can see the Mississippi River from porch!
This was our first stay in a historic home. It truly was a treat. We enjoyed trying to figure out what it might have looked like in the past. Although historic, all the modern amenities we could wish for were present. Up to date kitchen & appliances, lovely washer & dryer set, & super fast WiFi. The rooms were spacious and well-lit, with comfortable beds & seating. Our host provided us with an abundance of suggested dining spots and locations of interest around Hannibal. We loved our stay and would definitely return on a future visit to Hannibal.
We found the house to be comfortable for the 4 of us. The kitchen was very nice and easy to work in, as we did not eat out every meal.
Beds were super comfy.
