"The property was quiet peaceful, parking and check in and out was easy. We stayed here on our Honeymoon 28 years ago and have been back several times since. However, it could use some updates especially the bed and pillows. Our room AC was not on when we got there so we had to turn it on and cool the room down which took a while since it was July. The floors seemed to be uneven and carpet was dated. "

"We really enjoyed this property for a multi-family/generation stay - here for the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games (July). All adults in party (23 – 63), and one 3 yr. old (no small child issues here). Mobility and safety were great. Plenty of room to spread out inside as well as outside. Plenty of beds and bathrooms. Kitchen was well appointed with everything we needed. Towels and Linens - washer/dryer onsite, a plus. Great location for GFM Highland Games as well as Banner Elk, Blowing Rock, Boone, and the Parkway. Easy drive up the mountain - not too high up, or nor too steep. No concern on the mountain side. Room to park three cars and still turn around (we had family come and go during our stay). Stores, restaurants, and gas were convenient. (Recommend the Pedaling Pig, Lowes Market, Speedway and ABC – for those over 21). And the Hot Tub worked great! The only thing we missed was a chance to use the fire pit. Would definitely repeat a visit."
"Our family had a lovely stay here and would DEFINITELY stay here again! The location is perfect between Banner Elk, Blowing Rock, and Boone. The house is exactly like the photos. The view is beautiful. The owners were quickly responsive with any question i asked whether it was about groceries stores or best gem mining location. We made s'mores in their fire pit, relaxed in the hot tub, played Pac-Man (which I loved so much and watching my 3 & 6 year old try it too), hiked Otter Falls which was so close to the house, and got to see deer right outside. I will definitely be booking this place next summer for another lovely vacation away from the Florida heat. "

"Darren’s Place was perfect for our family weekend getaway. Tucked away, but still close to everything. The house was clean and had all we needed. Check in and check out was simple. Communication was fantastic. The porch (and the kitchen sink!) was the perfect place to enjoy the beautiful view of Grandfather. We are definitely coming back to Darren’s place. Thanks for a wonderful stay! "

"Beautiful cabin with a great location and amenities. Perfect for a family get away. Well maintained and cozy. Management was very responsive to all questions. The road into the property is somewhat uneven, so AWD in bad weather is highly recommended! "
