On arriving I was asked to produce an identity card/passport etc. I was informed that unless I produced it I would not be allowed to stay. I had travelled 300 miles from the other side of London to be greeted like I was some sort of criminal. I didn't have a passport or identity with a photo ( normal in England) and the guy on the reception said ok unless you produce it you cant stay. I am not sure where it says that on your web page but I certainly wasnt aware of it . I live in a country that doesn't have ID cards so why would YHA need it? In the end after much protesting by me, I was told if I had two credit cards in my name I could stay. It was an unpleasant experience, to say the least. Apart from that, it was ok. The room was fine and parking easy and an amazing view from my room. You just need to train staff a bit more in how to deal with stressed customers as I was after I arrived and informed I couldn't stay.
