"The property was maintained very well. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Onsen both public one and private in room one are perfect. The only “complaint” I had was they didn’t leave enough towels in the room while they ask you to bring to Onsen. I had to ask for extra. No complaint as the hostess gave me one instantly. Given this is an onsen resort, I’d think they could leave more towels in the room or keep some at onsen place."

"Great, new hotel, large and comfortable rooms, nice big bed. Short bus ride or 24 minute walk from train station in Nikko town. Free coffee all day (nice machine). Recommend buying breakfast and perhaps dinner at the main grocery store close to the Nikko train station, for convenience. Good idea to rent a car at Toyota Rent a Car/Hertz as the drives through the mountains are great, and the local bus service is good, but does not run all day."

"I had a fantastic experience at Hotel Shikisai. The staff were extremely courteous and attentive, the food was excellent (we got the "basic" coursed meal and it was divine!) and the setting is gorgeous and peaceful. Hotel Shikisai has a cozy lived-in feel, but don't take this to mean it is well-worn or undesirable AT ALL. It has a sentimental charm. Picture your favorite old forest lodge (for me it brings up the many WPA lodges in National Parks and National Forests in the States). We had the private onsen, and it was definitely worth any extra cost to pour a private epsom bath while gazing out at the forest on a rainy afternoon. Also, they keep you "hydrated" with free coffee, tea and happy hour booze on the daily!"

"Exceptional Hospitality What a wonderful little gem! Pension Arma is a small, charming place where the exceptional service truly makes you feel welcome and cared for. The hospitality was outstanding from beginning to end. Both dinner and breakfast were simple, homemade-style meals, but absolutely delicious and prepared with care. Sometimes it’s the simplest food that leaves the best impression. We stayed in a basic room, which was small, but perfectly adequate for a good night’s sleep. Everything we needed was there, and the warm hospitality more than made up for the room’s size. A truly memorable stay thanks to the wonderful service, delicious meals, and welcoming atmosphere. We would happily return and highly recommend Pension Arma!"

"I stayed only for one night but the hotel was excellent, staff were helpful, spacious Japanese style room. A bit of walk from the Kinugawa Onsen Station but it is a nice walk. I will stay again if I am in the area again."
