"We arrived a little early but Sarah was very accommodating and personally showed us to our room (The Coleridge Room) and other facilities at the property. Our room was very clean and tidy. Our bed at home is large but the one in the room was VERY wide (and proved very comfortable)! The ensuite facilities were very good as were the toiletries provided. Tea/coffee-making facilities were provided. It was a very warm day and night when we visited and we much appreciated the pedestal fan in the room. There was another smaller one in the wardrobe but we did not use that.
We did visit the Yarcombe Inn, just a few yards across the road from the Belfry, which did serve food and we had a meal there which was well cooked to order by the wife of the couple who run the pub. The menu was not extensive but we expected that. I also sampled a couple of real ales and Pam had a freshly made Aperol Spritz, with added Prosecco - much enjoyed. While we were there a small local band were setting up and we were there long enough to hear some decent music and singing from them.
The evening we stayed at the Belfry coincided with England playing France in the FIFA World Cup 3rd/4th play off final in the USA which did not kick off until 10.00pm UK time, which I watched on the wide-screen TV in our room.
Breakfast was very good - slightly unusual as ordered and delivered through a serving hatch - but the food was well-cooked and nicely presented on the plates.
We certainly enjoyed our stay."
