Was dissapointed the room was cold when we got there. But it warmed up when we put the heating on. Big disappointment was breakfast was not included in the price. £115 I’ve never booked an hotel that doesent offer free breakfast I’m sure it was listed has free. But we had to pay. The pub food was excellent. So we will be back for the food

Lovely hotel, friendly staff , unfortunately kept awake til 2am on the second night by guests (or locals) chatting in the bar area below. Woken up that morning by the adjacent launderette in full action!

Lovely location and great pub. Food not fancy and just standard pub grub. Room spacious, clean and comfy but walls really thin and I could hear snoring and morning sound effects through the walls. Toilet flushing sounded like a coffee grinder and not great if wanting to sleep!

Terrorvision Gig in a Cave
We don't usually stay in a B and B but we booked this one for a Terrorvision. gig in a cave in Castleton. It was a beautiful walk to and from the venue. The room was absolutely lovely and the staff were brilliant. Free parking made the deal even sweeter. We would definitely stay here again. PS... Terrorvision absolutely rocked the cave. xx

Extremely noisy with general bar chatter below and loud band going on until midnight. Possibly due to concurrent beer festival. Couldn’t relax or sleep in room until gone midnight. Otherwise, very good

Great little weekend getaway
The hotel was very cozy and welcoming. The food was lovely and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. And breakfast the following morning was a delight.

An enjoyable stay.
Very happy with our stay. Staff were helpful and friendly. Room was very comfortable and bathroom was clean and the shower was easy to use. The only slight problem was we were in room 2 and the traffic outside was a bit noisy!

Booked quite late for a long weekend and really pleased with our choice of hotel. Situated in the centre of Hope the hotel is an imposing building with lots of character. Check in went smoothly and we were shown to our room at the front of the hotel. Two sets of windows stopped any noise and the room itself was quite spacious with a nice bathroom/shower. We dumped our luggage and went into the bar/restaurant for a bite to eat. Service was great and food delicious. I had the steak pie and have to say best I’ve had for a long time. My wife had the burger which was equally as good. Had a really good nights sleep and the bed itself was really comfy as were the pillows/duvet. Breakfast was in the cafe and having arrived we were told by the woman serving that there was a “no show” from the chef but she would do her best to get us a decent breakfast and offered tea and toast. Some 10 mins or so after we arrived the chef did turn up, so we were able to order a cooked breakfast after all. Have to say the lady in the cafe was brilliant in managing the situation she found herself in and it didn’t spoil our breakfast experience. Overall we had a great stay. Thank you.

It was quirky, and I might even add ,a bit spooky- 4 posterbed, dripping chandeliers everywhere, creaking floorboards a creepy suit of armour in stairwell, view over graveyard( Bamford suite). I loved it ,to be honest. It had all mod coms,too, and I would recommend it to all, especially Goths and those of us looking for somewhere a bit different with character. Try the Indian restaurant in the village ,it's excellent. But get your alcohol from Spar first.

Clean but noisy
Pub was great with good beer and nice atmosphere. Room was spotless and well equipped. The bed was rather rickety and the matress and pillows exceptionally soft. The bathroom again was spotless and well equipped but the macerator smelt really bad. The problem was the noise from the bar both on the evening, but more frustratingly the music from the breakfast room at 8am.

Room 5 lovely room comfortable bed ,Freshly cooked breakfast in cafe . Lovely old pub with roaring log fire. Noisy after closing in bar area , however noise immediately stopped when we complained at 11.55 .

Excellent traditional pub serving great real ale and splendid food. Our room was small but comfortable with an en suite shower. (Note that the Castleton room is above the kitchen and that the extractor fan starts about 7.20 in the morning.)

We had a very nice two nights in the Old Hall Hotel. The staff were very freindly and helpful and the food in the restaurant was excellent. There was a pleasing range of draught ales as well. The plumbing/toilet system is a bit noisy, but it is an old building, and we got used to it!

Overnight stay on way home. It was comfortable, but the guest quarters could do with redecorating which would give it a lift. Breakfast was good , but service only started at 9:00 am. A bit late if you wish to get on.

Checked in late Monday afternoon for a one night stay. Emily made us very welcome and showed us our room. After a walk to Castleton we returned and ate in the bar. Food was very enjoyable. Service was good. Met the owner later in the evening and had a drink with him. Very pleasant and a good night. Both slept well. Room was the right size for us and room for the dog's crate. The only issue we had was the shower, which was difficult to get at a reasonable temperature all of the time, as it fluctuated very, very hot and then cold. The unit was leaking and I would suspect needs replacing. However, would happily stay here again as we were made more than welcome. Thank-you all.

The restaurant serves delicious local food!
The hotel is a bit old but still comfortable. Its restaurant is super convenient specially after an exhaustive hiking that I do not want to go elsewhere. Staff are friendly and helpful. It is located on a busy road. A bit noisy does not make it perfect.

Overall nice place but found mould on bread
Lovely place, really nice room with everything you need. Shower is amazing! Staff were so friendly and made us feel very comfortable. The only let down really was the breakfast, the teacups smelt of fish and we found mould on the bread, not ideal obviously and totally put us off our food. I also noticed some staff not having the best hand hygiene when handling food and drinks. The little village was amazing and totally worth visiting as it has wonderful views.

Short walking break, it is well situated with plenty of walks from the hotel. Food and bar service was very good. Rooms are ok, a bit noisy. Breakfast was poor, small choice as they didn’t have much in off the menu and no fruit juice offering. Service also poor especially 2nd morning. Overall though a nice place with friendly staff.

Friendly and informal place to stay
I spent four great nights in this friendly, informal and engaging place. My room was simple but perfectly adequately appointed and comfortable: the quarterly chimes of the church opposite lulling me to sleep. The welcome when I arrived, and throughout my stay, was very warm and friendly. The food - at dinner and breakfast - was wholesome and appetising, and the service was excellent. The hotel's wifi didn't seem to reach my particular room, but I could afford to set up a mobile hotspot. Importantly for me, the hotel is within walking distance of the local railway station. All in all, I'd very happily stay at the Old Hall Hotel, if I'm in the Peaks again.
