This hotel made our trip away very stressful, the staff were not helpful or apologetic when told about the poor standard of the room, the door failed to lock and I had try several times before I could leave the room, the water from.the tap was scolding hot and ky wife burnt here hand when testing the bath, there are no warning signs of how hot the water can reach, staff at the fromt desk did not care The room itself was disgusting, mould in the bathroom around the edges on the bath and on the tiling on the floor, only one plug socket for a double room, only one set of towels for a double room, it was clear the room had not been prepped for two people even though it was booked for two people. If I could give this hotel no stars I would.

We chose not to have breakfast but the choice seemed good and the dining area is in a lovely setting. My only gripes would be that there was no fridge or water in our room and I could not speak to a receptionist, having to leave a message instead the day before we arrived, which was not responded to. Overall cleanliness was good.

Definitely not a 4 star hotel. Positives - hotel is very central, room was large and clean, bathroom was large and had shower gel etc Negatives - hotel is very dated, public spaces were not clean, carpets in hallways not hoovered, windows in bathroom had mould, lift only goes to 2nd floor. Unfortunately there was a fire alarm at 0430 which can’t be helped. However, no staff to be seen. Fire alarm was intermittent, stopping in one part of the building completely. Did not eat in the hotel so cannot comment on food. Overall, we were very disappointed especially as we had paid £130 for an overnight stay. Currently in Dakota in Leeds which was £20 more and it is stunning. Would not recommend Studley.
