Loved our stay in Ischia!
We had heard so much about how beautiful Ischia was, we were so looking forward to exploring it for ourselves... and boy, we were not disappointed! Francesco was the most amazing host, and that's saying something given he doesn't speak any English!!! No mean feat to ensure the happiness of his guests, but with the help of his translation app and a huge dose of helpfulness and happiness we had a fabulous stay. On multiple occasions he willingly picked us up from town to save us the climb up the (relatively easy, if not with a complaining 8yo!) hill back home. Our apartment was clean and spacious, although the kitchen could perhaps have a few more additions such as a tea towel, toaster/kettle (for us Aussies, this is standard!) and some wine glasses. There's no washing machine, however Francesco again came to our rescue by happily doing our washing for us. Is there nothing this man can't do?! Our only other suggestion in making our stay 5-star would be to have wifi available in the rooms, and also to provide larger towels... they were rather tiny, and after a day of exploring got dirty very quickly. Aside from that we enjoyed the pool at the end of a hot day, we loved the huge balcony - which we virtually got to ourselves, as there were only a couple of other guests staying for the same week as us - and had a few pre-dinner drinks overlooking the township of Ischia... oh those views, just superb. We found the restaurants along the harbour to be the best, and there are loads to choose from so just take a stroll and see which one(s) take your fancy. Buses are CRAMMED this time of year, so be prepared to sweat if you want to go anywhere! We took a bus one day to the Negombo thermal springs - it's a MUST DO, just beautiful. One word of warning though, don't wear your best swimmers as ours all got stained orange???! Go with your best pair of black bathers! Our week in Ischia will be fondly remembered for many years to come, and we'll never forget the amazing hospitality shown by Francesco - thanks so much for making our stay on your beautiful island even more memorable than it would otherwise have been! We hope to see you in Australia soon!!! ;-)
