Felt comfortable from the first moment. The owner had contacted me a few days before I arrived, asking if I needed any info or Karuizawa. So when I arrived, the conversation picked up where we'd left off, making the place feel more comfortable and homelike.
The ground floor feels more like a home than a hotel, with views to the backyard and a wood stove in the corner for cold days. Was greeted on arrival with a hot cup of tea and easy conversation with lots of information about the town.
The room was large, clean, well appointed, large bath/shower. A sitting area separate from the bed with views to the gazebo in the back yard was pleasant. Very comfortable.
In the morning, breakfast was a traditional English breakfast, sausage, eggs, beans, tomato and an English muffin with coffee or tea.
An easy comfortable environment. A two hour drive from Tokyo, I'm looking forward to returning.
