"Whole hotel looks like it was good 20 years ago and someone just forgot to do anything with it since. We booked a non smoking room but when we entered the room the smoke was so heavy I could taste it and there were burn marks all over the carpet. We asked to be moved and got a new room which smellt like a mixture of smoke and peppermint airfreshener to hide it. At least in this room it was still manageable. Stains in the carpet but bedlinnen and bathroom were clean. Personell was friendly...

"Onsen outside on the river was fantastic and perfect after a day walking. Breakfast was limited and dining options with walking distance very limited. Room was large and traditional Japanese style was extremely comfortable to sleep. "

"Tried to check out and could not as they did not have staff to take payment. Had to leave to make it to bus in order to catch my train and flight. Has to go to extraordinary lengths to pay them after. Also extremely overpriced for this hotel, would never come back."

"A quiet hotel with a nice onsen on the balcony overlooking the river. Simple alkaline waters, not too hot, elaborate dinners and breakfast with nice sea and river fish dishes, good wifi. Comfortable rooms in a modern building. "

"We were halfway through our two week trip when we stayed. We were exhausted and even missed a couple of meals catching up on sleep. I could not have been in a better place to recover. The staff were great and the food is wonderful. The view is one of a kind. "

"I had a really nice stay at the Fairfield. The staff there was very very helpful. The room was spacious, well maintained and had a small hot pot to geat water for coffee, tea or miso soup. You do not need soap or shampoo hecause it provided in the shower. There are a couple of restaurants nearby but they close around 8pm plan to go to the market which is a little over a mile away. Theres a local bus that runs almost every hour for 200¥ one way. L "

"the place is an island on it's own and looks like a James Bond villain base from the outside. Inside it's got so many baths and just cool areas to explore. The room itself is comfortable and there's even a little convenience store near the front desk so you can get room snacks easily. I picked up some of the pickled plum udon noodles to cook at home and they were delicious! Meals are a little crowded as they're buffet style but the food itself is amazing and so many different things to try. I recommend coming here at least once and staying two nights if you can."
