Really close to metro and rail station.
Nice hotel with friendly staff. It's exactly what you would expect from this type of hotel. It's very close to the metro and railway station and it's one stop down to Kyoto central station. There are plenty of good local amenities but being so close to the centre of Kyoto makes it almost the perfect place to stay. I would happily stay there again.

Great location, but don’t book smoking rooms
The location is perfect. Right next to 2 train stations. But the room I booked was the smoking room type, and the tobacco smell was really heavy.

Nice hotel with a fabulous buffet breakfast!!
This hotel was convenient to the subway and had a really good buffet breakfast, but the beds were hard as rocks. My husband loved the free onsen (spa), and the breakfast was good, so our only real complaint were the beds.

Good stay close to the Yamashina rlwy stn. No WiFi in rooms and the staff wasn’t always friendly, especially with bedding for sofa bed in room. Decent size room for Japan. Service was average.

Directly opposite train station
It is directly opposite yamashina station, which is one stop away from main Kyoto station. Rooms are clean and spacious, staff are friendly, comfortable onsen. However, the power of the wifi router provided is rather weak.

Very nice hotel, great breakfast & free onsen bath
Had a very nice, one week long stay at this hotel. It was much better than expected. Clean, professional, well organized. The room, although looking out towards the busy railway station, was very calm, the windows having good soundproofing. With regard to other reviews: Wifi is now available in all rooms without surcharge. You'll get a little wifi router upon request at check-in, and just plug it in in your room. Works like a charm. Also, the breakfast was fantastic, with a huge selection of both japanese and international food stuff of good quality. Best of all: The hotel has its own little onsen in the 4th / 5th floor, consisting of a thermal bath and a sauna, and it is free to use for the hotel guests.

Comfortable hotel
The hotel is well located with access to the Yamashina underground station and shopping center through the elevator. This was really handy once we worked it out. The room was large by Japanese standards and the double bed was also slightly larger than we encountered elsewhere in Japan. The buffet breakfast was excellent. Free wifi was available in the lobby. On request, a booster was supplied that could be plugged in to give coverage in our room.

Very good value and comfortable business hotel
I stayed one night. I was expecting a very standard business hotel so I was pleasantly surprised. The double room I booked was spacious and even had a sofa in it. The bathroom was not huge of course, but plenty of space to stretch and towel off after enjoying the full-length bath. I did not try the baths on the 4th floor during my stay. Breakfast was fine. Not that great, but far better than most Japanese business hotels with toast, egg, sausages, cereal, yogurt, juices and coffee all decent. Overall, I was very happy EXCEPT that there is no wifi in the rooms. They only provide LAN cables for a PC and wifi is available in the lobby.

No Wifi in room
Location was great, one JR stop away from the central station. The staff was very accommodating, they allowed us to check-in early and let us leave our bags after we checked out. The room was a good size for Japanese standards. We didn't get to use the onsen because they don't allow anyone with tattoos; that was a bit disappointing but quite normal for Japan. The bathroom was a good size and had all the amenities that one needed including a razor and shower cap. Unfortunately we were given a smoking room which was stinky of cigarettes but in the end it didn't bother us too much. One last thing, there wasn't any WiFi in the rooms, only in the lobby, so if you stay here I suggest you have a pocket WiFi so this isn't an issue for you. Overall it was a good stay.

Wonderful stay
Friendly staff, clean and comfortable room and delicious and varied breakfast buffet - no complaints here! And yes, the hotel is not in central Kyoto, but it is next door to a JR train station and a subway station and only one stop from Kyoto station. It's a good base for sightseeing and there are plenty of good restaurants within a 5 minute walk plus a department store and a laundromat. Highly recommended.

Great location for accessing JR lines and subway.Hotel entrance is accessed from Yamishina train line. Department store directly over the road and a large supermarket in the basement area of supermarket. Coin laundry just down the road. Good selection at breakfast - cereals, yoghurt, pastries etc as well as Japanese selections. Extremely helpful hotel staff

Good for travelling around Kyoto/Osaka
The train station is right next to the hotel and all the trains in the area stop here and Kyoto. There is a good selection of places to eat near by. The hotel itself is fine, good enough for somewhere to come back to after sightseeing. Staff are friendly and speak English very well. Hotel restaurant is not the best but there is a great mister donut close that does pizza and pasta!

Great location
The hotel is located opposite the metro and Japanese Railway station which makes it easy to get around Kyoto, l took the JR train from Kyoto station to Yamashina, about 5 mins using my JR pass. The hotel is new, lovely quite large bedrooms with sitting area. The only point worth noting I booked the hotel because of the bath and sauna facilities which I couldn't use as l have a tattoo on my arm which l think is generally the case with hotels in Japan, not tattoos in bathing areas.

Excellent hotel, one stop from the city centre
One stop on the train from Kyoto station. Good sound-proofing meant that we weren't disturbed by the trains. Staff very friendly and helpful. My husband enjoyed going into the communal bath. (Different times for males and females!)

Kind of a crummy hotel and NOT IN KYOTO
First and foremost the poor cab driver couldn't find this hotel as the name is so obscure & almost invisible unlike other hotels. We must have gone in circles in the area & the cab driver was kind enough to turn off the meter running- so we didn't have to pay extra Its kind of a dimly lit hotel & it didn't give us a good feeling. From the time I walked in I knew I had made a mistake booking this hotel.The carpets are worn out- the rooms are tiny & the hotel looks a bit cheap.They did make a big deal of giving us a coupon to the bath- which we didn't use as we didn't know the customs or requirements & nobody could give us any info- so that was a waste. The breakfast was the worst we had in Japan- runny eggs- smelling of grease, canned fruit & mostly ethnic food that we were not familiar with so we tried to stay with simple staples. The coffee too was bad.Only good thing is - its opposite the JR station of Yamashina- 1 stop away from Kyoto on the JR. Its literally like staying in the station!!

Just out of the city, 5 minutes by efficient train
We were quietly surprised to find this hotel situated in a suburban area 2 minutes walk from the station.The hotel was clean and comfortable with very helpful staff.We ate locally, with the locals, which was great.Walking around the local area, day and night, was the most safe I have ever felt in any part of the World.Being respectful is a trait of Japan so being respectful in return went a long way to be warmly welcomed.

This hotel is directly beside the subway and train station (only one stop away from Kyoto train station) so it was very convenient. Our room was very spacious, but the bed was very hard and uncomfortable. Contrary to what is written in a lot of reviews, if you ask about WiFi in your room, the staff give you something to plug in and then you can have good WiFi in your room.

Lovely quality hotel beside Yamashina Station
Hotel is 1 minute away from Yamashina Station but rooms are so well soundproofed you can hear no noise at all. Staff are very courteous and helpful and décor is tastefully done

Nice hotel. No WiFi at room. However, do not hesitate to ask at reception about WiFi. You will get router that assure good connection. It's easy to reach Kyoto station from nearby located station (5 min walk) for only 160 Yen in only 10 minutes. However, be prepared: no good restaurants or sushi bar around (my experience after 9:00 pm). On the other hand, it’s choice: to stay here for reasonable price with some minor inconveniences mentioned above or stay in Kyoto Station area and pay much more money for full satisfaction.

Overall enjoy our stay here
Though the hotel is not near the prime locations and tourist attraction spots, I would say the location is still very convenient as it is right above the metro station, totally sheltered and there is a Daimaru and many good food stores around the corner. With the day pass for metro, you would have no problem going around the city. Room size is acceptable, the room itself is comfortable and we had good night sleep here.

We weren't in our room much for our trip to Kyoto but this spot was a great location. Most hotels in Kyoto are a bit pricey but this spot was a great value and located right across the street from a train station that was only one stop away (5 mins) from Kyoto main station. This made it very easy to get everywhere! Room was small but clean. Staff was helpful.

Hotel was a fantastic value - located right near a station, including elevator access to the subway lines, making access to various sights in town very easy. Staff was friendly, breakfast buffet was a great value with good food. Rooms were a bit roomier than expected for the price, as was the bathroom (they're often quite small in cheap hotels in Japan)

Great location! Close to station and Metro and very easy to get to all the places we wanted to visit! Kyoto is a very lovely city! The hotel was lovely with an added extra of a public bath, worth a try! The room was a little tired looking but saying that it was spotlessly clean and had a fantastic view! The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful, we really enjoyed our stay!

Best price and best location to stay in Kyoto.
The free breakfast was great. There was a direct lift to hotel from sudway station. It is only one JR stop from JR Kyoto Station & walk 2 mins to hotel. The staffs were very helpful. Unacceptable was the poor wifi in room. You can get wifi in lobby only.
