About this property

Bearwood House, Pembridge, near Leominster , Herefordshire

  • Bearwood House is a half-timbered property in an idyllic rural holiday setting. The house is adjacent to but entirely separate from Bearwood Cottage. If the house and cottage are booked together there is ample space in the dining room for 15 guests.

Inside, there's plenty of room to spread out with a large L-shaped sitting room divided by beams, giving separate areas to relax whilst still being together. A large open fire warms the space and plenty of comfy seating is provided to enjoy it. Perfect for catering for large groups, the farmhouse kitchen has both an Aga and an electric oven and hob, and a small breakfast table. The room spills through into an enormous dining room, large enough to seat 15 guests, should the cottage residents be part of your group. One of the five bedrooms is downstairs, along with a shower room. The remaining four bedrooms are upstairs on the first floor; bedroom one enjoys its own en-suite, with a family bathroom servicing the remaining bedrooms.

Endless entertainment is provided inside and out. The house is set in grounds of more than an acre with an arboretum, sunken garden and loggia and there is a luxury outdoor hot tub for six people. The games room contains a pool table, air hockey table, tennis table and darts board. Six bicycles (shared with Bearwood Cottage) including a tandem, croquet, badminton, boules and many other garden games are provided. There is an Xbox, Bose SoundLink and a good selection of board games. Tennis is also available at the owner's house nearby.

Just a mile away in the "black and white" village of Pembridge is the 15th century New Inn where you can be sure of a warm welcome and a hearty meal; a super village shop, cafe and farm shop too; and, less than a mile from Bearwood House is the excellent Cider Barn restaurant, an absolute must for a special lunch or dinner during your stay (gourmet frozen meals can also be picked up to warm up in the Aga at Bearwood House).

Hardwick Barn available to hire: If you are thinking of having a celebratory lunch; drinks; dinner; or surprise party - for a crowd or just a few, Hardwick Barn is available to hire separately and is the perfect venue. A beautifully restored half timbered barn within 1.5 miles of Bearwood House and Cottage, the Barn is situated on the owner's family farm and has been lovingly renovated, keeping all the original timbers, with sensitive lighting accentuating the beams up to the rafters or disco lights also available if required. The mezzanine level seats up to 30 people for dinner with a glass balcony enabling a view over the barn. Downstairs are two glass, circular tables providing additional seating for a further 16 people. A long bar with bar stools sits along one wall with sofas which can be pushed back to create a dance floor area, and a wood burning stove provides warmth and ambience from the heart of the barn. There is a pool table at one end, with the kitchen and cloakroom located beneath the mezzanine level. Original sliding doors provide entry on two sides of the building, along with a terrace overlooking the fields to the hills in the distance. Caterers and bar staff can be provided who can be directly liaised with to organise the perfect event, and only a stone's throw from Bearwood House and Cottage. The Barn is also ideal for demonstrations, craft making courses and similar as the mezzanine level has large tables with sheepskin covered benches. Please contact our Bookings Team if you are interested in hiring Hardwick Barn.

The Big House

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend. It really does have everything and more. Beautiful house along with hot tub and games room. Beautiful surroundings and lovely walks. If I had to be really picky I would note that whilst it is dog friendly, the house is surrounded by rams and sheep (front and back gardens) so needed to be on our toes. Would of relaxed more if we could off let the dogs off lead. Still loved the place though :).

Perfect

The location of Bearwood House is stunning. My 15 month old grandson so enjoyed “sheep TV” whilst he ate his meals! His three adult uncles took full advantage of the games room in the evenings and the back lawn for cricket and badminton. Just wish we had stayed longer to put the tandem to good use. His mother was rather taken with the hot tub. The kitchen had everything one could possibly need so cooking for the eight of us was not a problem. Lucy and David were delightful hosts, would thoroughly recommend this property.

Dad's birthday

Great place to stay. The house is beautifully furnished and very well cared for. Beds really comfortable and spotlessly clean. The games room is great for groups especially when going anywhere right now is such hassle. My only niggles are the late check in and early check out, and the info telling you how to get the keys was hidden in an email about Covid restrictions..... Which we of course skim read 😊 and as a result arrived with no clue as to how to get in 😁. Lovely hot tub made up for it..... Great stay thanks 👌

Beautiful house in a beautiful location

Couldn't ask for more from this beautifully large house, with well packed games room and awesome hot tub. A short walk across the wonderful countryside and you can see the little village of Pembridge, with a couple of pubs and cafes. Just a perfect spot to get away from it all....
