Easily one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. From the start the reception staff were unhelpful, the rooms were “straightened” but not clean (ex. stains on carpet). The walls are so thin that I could hear every bit of conversation happening next door (and it wasn’t anything I wanted to hear) - but the worst part was there was an event going on with music blaring so loud that I could hear it as clear as if it was in my room well past midnight. Called down to reception about the issue and their response was that it was *my* problem and they weren’t seemingly bothered to do anything about it. You could not PAY me to stay here again under any circumstances.

This Hotel seriously needs a revamp, it could be a beautiful hotel, but it is very dated and lots of things made it look very cheap, horrible plastic flowers, plastic chains and horrendous wallpaper. Our room was very hot, which spoilt our sleep. On the plus side the two men on reception were very nice, but the £200 deposit was very steep and the breakfast was awful. It’s such a shame because it’s a lovely grand building that could be so much more.

Great staff. Restaurant on the property served great food. Would have preferred air conditioning in the room, but I’m always hot. Overall a good experience. Try the green hut down the road for some great fish!

Awesome building.. cool history.. and beautiful surroundings. Felt a bit weird checking in though.. they require passports of all guests and take photocopies of them out the back room.. and they also require a £200 deposit which takes a few days to be returned. That's considerably more of a deposit than I've encountered elsewhere on my travels and wasn't told why it was so high.. except that it's all in the T&C's on booking. Guess they've had some pretty lousy guests in the past. The building is also ridiculously hot in winter with heating on full blast. Oh and the breakfast wasn't great but the dude serving was lovely. Despite it's faults I would stay here again because it's a castle and it's cool AF.

We’ve stayed here many times over the years but this time we were asked for a 200 deposit that will take 10 days to go back on to my account! The hotel room was far too hot and the radiator didn’t work Also asked for id luckily I had my driving license on me which I nerved usually do

Nice hotel but I’d skip breakfast personally!
Hotel itself is nice lovely room etc just a few issues we had during our stay. Firstly the room was set to what felt like 40 degrees it was unnecessarily hot in there. Secondly the breakfast this is where it majorly fell down. The food was bland and dry and my partners sausage was pink in the middle and the hotel receptionist didn’t seem to know what to say about it at checkout just told us to email him a picture of it and that was it not even an apology.

My first impressions were wow! Loved everything about it & no complaints. Unfortunately this all changed at breakfast! VERY short staffed! The staff who were on were Sue & Mark Ming who both deserve a mention-outstanding given that they had to cope with everything on their own & were running around trying their best topping up the coffee/toast/ etc, clearing & relaying tables, taking orders, serving etc. Because of this breakfast turned into brunch which for some of the other guests meant wasted time as they had plans in Liverpool as they were staying there on Sunday night. The breakfast cost £12 pp so £24 for my partner to pay which is A LOT & we wished we hadn’t been up sold when checking in I have rung twice to ask to speak to the Manager but he is never available. The receptionists are also lovely-especially the one from South Africa. As it had now been a whole month since our stay & he hasn’t acknowledged my complaint I have no option to write a negative review. Amanda Norton

Check-in process took over 15 minutes, after leaving all details when booked. One meal in the bar/restaurant had to be returned, staff in the restaurant/bar were very attentive and dealt with the problem, not too sure who was cooking the food! Window in room wouldn’t close properly and caused a draft and made room very cold, especially when heating went off at 11pm, I was promised a room voucher as compensation however wasn’t upheld. If wasn’t for these few issues was a nice hotel….

I was pleased with the room we were given. Room was very clean and beds were lovely and comfortable. The hotel was very cold downstairs. We asked a few times if we could close the lounge door to keep us warm, this ignored. Poor service. Breakfast was a disaster, very poor service but with two staff for a whole hotel was very poor. You really need to put your guests first above your wallet. Communication poor about wanting ID , £100 deposit thankfully we had both but had we not it would have caused lots of issues.

Stayed in room 21 looked nothing like the photos we looked at on the website . Dodgy electrics ie white wire coming out of a plug socket. So cold in the room the bed was damp . Bathroom was an ice box . Generally the room fixtures and furniture were tired and are in need of a total overhaul. I have stayed in £45 b&bs in Blackpool and Rhyl for a couple and had much nicer experiences . I will never stay here again and if I’m asked by anyone else I will tell them of my experience..

Needs some updating.
We had 3 rooms and all 3 said the beds and pillows were awful. One said the bed was stained. They had the fan from the kitchen outside which was very loud and heating didn’t work in room. The room service was disappointing. You would expect a different menu to the brasserie, something like sandwich, omelette, burgers but no so a take away was ordered in stead! John in the breakfast room was outstanding what a lovely man. So kind and helpful. Though herbs in the beans - not so sure!! Not well lit at night when we came in as car park was full there was a function on so had to use the back car park and it was difficult to see where we were going. Obviously needs some updating no usb plug sockets so remember to take your plugs! Luckily we did take 2 between 6 of us! Old school. No electric charging point for cars either. Lovely view of beach and close to golf course if that what you’re going for.

Lovely property, lots of history. Staff were excellent as was the food- The room was a little small but quite comfortable. Nice view of the golf course and sea beyond. Worth a visit.

I cannot recommend for a business trip...
Hotel in general look tired and in need of investment. Overpriced breakfast soaked in oil - I felt taste of it for rest of the day. On check-in, apart from the cost of the room, you need to allow them to block £100 on your card toward "accidental damage". They request to take a copy of photo ID with intention of keeping it in their archive for 7 years ???!!! I was not able to connect to hotel WiFi either - no reception in my room. Although room was reasonably priced, I will not be coming back :(

The building itself is beautiful. The service is good and reception staff are helpful. Food is great. The bedroom was clean but tired looking and the biggest downside is the £200 deposit they hold on account until you check out.

The hotel was ok, it had a good outlook and the staff were nice and friendly. It’s slightly frustrating as a hotel as from the outside it could be amazing but the inside does not match this. The rooms were a lovely size but very tired and worn, they needed full refurbishment. For example it was a huge room but only one bedside table with no power sockets either side. The breakfast was poor. The bar area was ok, dated and not in the style of the rest of hotel. They also strangely requested photo id upon check in, took a copy and gave with no real explanation of why or how they would store this data, no other uk hotel has ever asked us for this (we had a booking confirmation and put a credit card on hold). Such a shame this is no better than a premier inn really but it could be a fantastic venue with a refurbished and consideration to the service and amenities needed in a four star hotel).

We booked a standard room with VIP access, but were allocated a tiny one next to the elevator which had a strong smell of stale cigarette smoke (eventhough the window had been left open). We were offered a better room as an alternative but were told we would need to pay extra to do so. We asked for a full refund and they agreed. Fortunately, we were able to find another property nearby - the Wyngate Guest House - whi h was much cleaner, more spacious and friendly and less expensive. Weve stayed at Leasowe Castle once before - we wont stay again. The place is looking very "tired" now and in need of a refurb.
