"I was going to visit the Brecon Mountain Railway and I needed somewhere close by to stay for the night. Luckily, I chose the Butchers Arms. The room was lovely and clean and the bed very comfortable. The food was filling and tasty and I had breakfast looking across to the start of the Brecon Beacons. The beer was wonderful especially the Butty Bach (little friend in Welsh). "

"Centrally located and walking distance to the town. Enjoyed my stay. Good selection at Breakfast and other guests were regulars which says a lot for the property."

"Absolutely delightful hotel. Me and a friend booked a room each for the Hay Festival, and we couldn’t have been happier with our stay. The staff were wonderful; helpful, friendly, even showed us to our rooms. The location was great, not too far away but far enough that I’d was quiet and tranquil. The breakfast is well worth the money, as is the Old Barn pub across the road, where we ate that night. A fantastic stay, I can’t wait to return with my husband next time."

"We spent a lovely night at the B and B.
Everything was perfect and they even left a G and T and beer in the fridge for us to enjoy and fresh milk in a jug.
The beds were extremely comfortable and the water piping hot.
The breakfast in the morning was lovely and our hosts could not have been more welcoming
We will return again"

"We stayed at the purple Loft room for our wedding anniversary, and it's absolutely stunning! Huge, very comfortable bed, lovely decoration, lots of space and beautiful views from the window seat. I never wanted to leave!"
"Very friendly couple who make you most welcome and make every effort to ensure you enjoy your stay. Lots of nice little touches.
Naturally communicative and attentive.
Super breakfast with plenty of choice.
Good on-site parking.
No hesitation in recommending."
"We had a good and fun get away overnight. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. NIce bar and restaurant (good food), really enjoyed the atmosphere. The only positive feedback we would give is regarding the use of the jacuzzi requiring one pound for 9 minutes of use and the check out at 10:00h am is far too early, this particularly I did not like.
Overall a good stay and recommended!!"
"Good hotel. Nice clean rooms, with windows that open properly! Very helpful staff.
Car park is quite tight, but there is a big public one a couple hundred meters away.
Online check-in seems unnecessary and causes a bit of confusion."
"This was a short break for us, just two days. Food was really good with portions rather too large for us pensioners. Great choice at breakfast. Lunch menu wide ranging: we had home made fish finger sandwich with chips, only £10. Puts Warners to shame. Will go again. very convenient for trips out, eg Steam railway and Brecon canal trips."
"Fabulous place to stay, will definitely look to stay again if in the area. We wanted a dog friendly room so I reached out to the hotel when booking and they made a point of securing us the perfect room, on the ground floor, with patio doors out on to the carpark/dog walk area. So helpful and reassuring to know that we wouldn't have any issue when we arrived after a day's travelling. The room was lovely and spacious, beds huge and comfortable. The only thing I would say is that the bathroom became very steamed up/condensation when taking a shower - maybe look at better fan/ventilation to help clear that? The food was absolutely amazing! The menu offered something for every taste, fantastic choice and all so delicious and well presented. We stayed two nights and ate there both nights, once in the lounge restaurant (with our doggies sleeping at our feet) and then in the restaurant the second night (no dogs) as it was so good. Breakfast was equally as amazing, again so much choice and the fresh cooked hot breakfasts were wonderful. Special shout out to the young lady who served us both mornings, she was so lovely and attentive to our needs.
Fantastic place!"
"The approach to the hotel is stunning—neat, tidy, and very impressive. From the moment we arrived, we received a warm welcome from reception, with staff who were both friendly and informative.
Our room was delightful, featuring a beautiful four-poster bed complete with drapes. The furniture had an eclectic, well-loved charm that added character to the room while remaining spotlessly clean. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the well-appointed en-suite bathroom offered both a bath and a walk-in shower.
We enjoyed dinner in the restaurant, where the food was delicious and beautifully presented. Afterwards, we relaxed with coffee in the comfortable lounge area.
The grounds are simply gorgeous. Whichever window you look out of, you are greeted by stunning views of the surrounding green countryside. Throughout our stay, the staff were polite, attentive, and professional.
A special mention goes to Ellen, who kindly gave us a tour and shared the fascinating history of the house after breakfast in the cosy breakfast room.
Overall, we had a truly lovely stay and would not hesitate to return. Highly recommended."
"Thoroughly enjoyed stay with the staff totally committed to you. One issue that people with mobility issues should be aware of is that they have rooms up 2/3flights of stairs in a spiral configuration (although carpeted), and they should ensure when booking that they are not allocated these 3/4 rooms. (once up there the view the harbour is superb!!)
Rooms clean and checked if you require every day, and the food excellent. The free coffee and cake to guests every afternoon was an added bonus.
Would recommend it."
"Stayed at The Feathers for four nights. It's history is very interesting. The room was clean with tea, coffee etc. The bed so comfortable I could have stayed in it all day. Housekeeping excellent. The staff friendly, helpful and work very hard. Cannot fault them. Food superb, fresh, locally sourced and plenty of it. Breakfast included and free parking. Great location to wander the short walk to the middle of town and the harbour or just sit outside. As an elderly lady on her own I was very well looked after."
