Room needed a lot of work and TLC. Staff very friendly, particularly the lady cooking breakfast and cleaning. Location was good and price was great. Only stay here if your needs are modest and you can deal with little problems.

The room was disgusting. They put me in a basement room that looked like a squat. The wifi didn't work, it cut out as soon as you enter the room. carpets were disgusting, furniture falling apart, the curtains didn't cover the whole window and I had to ask for towels so I had privacy, as you could see out onto the alley. The room stank of sewage and outside the door even more so. Other people's rubbish was still in the bin and the toilet seat wasn't attached properly. It felt like they had added on an extra room last minute or something, as also, the box for the bedframe was lying on the floor outside the room.

Stay away from this place
I booked two rooms for myself and colleague. One of the rooms was uninhabitable as smelt disgusting. He had to share with me in my room as there were no more rooms. Even my room wasn’t great but was acceptable for one night. The receptionist acknowledged how bad room 6 was but still fighting to get a refund or even an apology. Not good. Will not stay again.

Location close to Paddington and Lancaster Gate underground stations. Booked 1-bed room, size was ok but carpet was dirty. Bed and bathroom were clean. Staff is superb, very helpful and welcoming. Simple but tasty and fresh breakfast (toast, cereals, English breakfast). Noisy due to close proximity to Sussex Garden street.

Give it a miss - pay a bit more.
Hotel small with no lift to upper floors. There is no fire escape. Photos look good, but deceiving. The window wouldn't stay open and being on high floor it was very hot. Propped it open with air freshener cannister from bathroom. Small bathroom and very hard bed. Breakfast was minimal and bacon and eggs overcooked and hard with desert spoon of beans. Plenty of cereal and juice and bread for toast though. Friendly staff, especially reception. Lots of clutter on stairway. Fire door padlocked, but no fire escape anyway. No garden and looking out of window lots of litter and clutter down below in what I presume had been the garden. Needs a lot of improvement. Ok for an odd night, but if more - worth paying more for better hotel. Convenient area for public transport and within walking distance to Marble Arch.

Please take this hotel out of your options. Mattresses were terrible . That was not a mattress it was a blanket on top of springs . Tiles in the bathroom loose. wood roten. The only good thing was the breakfast .

Tue room is too small the were many thighs that are falling apart in side the rooms and throughout the hotel. The appliances are old. The only good thing was the location and the braksfast.

Appalling - barely 2 star
Misleading advertisement and overpriced Lumpy beds, window wouldn't close - drafty, broken furniture, tiny room, water heater loud and inside wall right next to head of bed, broken shower screen, we were a family of 4 with children and luggage placed at top with 6 flights of narrow stairs, old but clean linen. No wifi as advertised, unless in reception. Good breakfast - fabulous bacon and eggs saved my stormy mood. A few other reviews are kinder so perhaps not all rooms are so bad - we are usually pretty forgiving & adaptable family however this tipped me - terrible value and not recommended at all

An ok Hotel with friendly staff and a quick check in. Limited breakfast available. No lift. Spacious room, but lumpy bed. Worst of all, though, the bathroom/toilet. Water filled the sink without using a plug and did not drain away for a good 30/40 minutes. I also couldn't get the shower to work!!

As expected for the money, reasonably comfortable bed quite helpful desk staff although when I came in on the night they didn't check my name or ID and actually handed me the key for someone else's room. Checkout is quite early at 10am. Shower was warm and good flow but I couldn't use it properly as the hose was leaking so only around 30% of the water actually made it to the shower head. I misssed breakfast so can't comment on that

Worrying attitude to fire safety
Room was OK - bathroom very small. Bed not very comfortable. Main concern was lack of fire exits on top floor - only one way up or down, and fire doors on all floors (4) were propped open with fire extinguishers. I closed the doors on my way up to bed, replacing the extinguishers where they should have been. However, I would avoid this property in the future, and would pay more attention to the size and age of the hotel, especially in regard to adherence to fire policies.

LIKE CHECKING IN TO A SKIP
The Hotel was filthy, knew I had slight mobility problems but still gave me a room four or five flights up at the top of the building, room was very dirty as was the en-suite, one very flat pillow, lino in bathroom lifting because of damp, and badly stained, staff very ignorant, was served my breakfast by a shabbily dressed teenager in a woolly hat, and grunted at by a member of staff when checking out, not sure if it was a man or woman. When I arrived it was too late to seek an alternative and besides they had already debited my card which they were not supposed to do, they were supposed to take payment on arrival. BEWARE - DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!

Hotel is convenient to Paddington train station, easy walk 2-3 min. Hotel in need of refit, shower door and fittings broken, toilet seat too. There is no lift, we were 135 steps up to room. Not accessible if you are elderly, breakfast was in basement so more stairs. Breakfast was good, bacon over cooked, eggs under cooked, but all edible. Staff not so helpful, too busy with their phones, as is the norm these days. Beds were large and room warm, furniture past its best...

We had 2 single rooms, up 7 flights of stairs! 8, after visiting the breakfast room. Breakfast was great, plenty of room, very friendly staff, but the rooms were bad, and so noisy. My friend had a room at the front - sirens and traffic all night, I had the heating system. The small white unit in the photo was screwed to the floor, so you couldn't use the sockets! If they could just give the rooms a lick of paint, it would help.

You get what you pay for...
We didn’t complain to reception about any of the basic failings of the facilities, they were so obvious. A broken window, dirty smelly pillows (we used our towels to cover them when we slept) poor state of decor and a knackered bed and mattress, broken toilet seat, disgusting shower head. We will not stay here again. Also for some reason the fire alarm detector was covered? I hope this has now been removed and not the case for the other rooms as this is a major safety concern!!

The worst room ever
The only good thing about this hotel is it’s location. Very close to paddington station. I have no idea how they can even let anybody stay in the room I had - it’s more like an unloved storage room with a bed that just happened to be there.

Cosy hotel in quiet street however room seems wasn't renovated long time ago. The same time room was clean and tidy. Helpful staff, free wi-fi connection was good. Short distance (appr.3 minutes walk) to the Paddington tube station what is very convenient to reach main city attractions. Stayed for 2 nights and the bed was found made and room cleaned every day. Traditional English breakfast however for longer stay stomach would ask for variety (croasants for example). A little bit tricky to find how to turn on the light in the bathroom and open water in the shower but somehow solved by ourselves :). Overall, good experience to stay for a good price, recommend.

Charged me twice
They charged me twice and I am still waiting for them to refund my money back to me. The room was okay, though the concrete floor was showing in my room and the edges of the room looked like they never hooverd, way too pricey for the standard they provide. I had to stay in a room with a window that wouldn't close and anyone could have gotten I and stolen my belongings. Food and staff were okay

It was good in terms of the area and being able to walk to most places. Close to shops if you want to buy food. We were put in the 4th floor as a family which was horrible. 2 adults and 2 kids had to go up the steep stairs every day for 4 days. They should be more considerate for families. Room services didnt change sheets and covers though ine was clearly made dirty by our little one. They didnt replace the toiletries during our stay, I had to call in the third day to have shampoo, though they say that they offer toiletries. The receptionist wasnt sure if we can drink the water from taps, so you have to buy water every day. The room is soo small, and mattresses are so uncomfortable. Very old in general. All in all, we were happy that it was close to hyde park and few museumd and the Paddington station.
