Hotel was conveniently placed for me. The staff were very helpful. Unfortunately the room I had smelt musty, the bathroom facilities were not up to standard. The bath taps were loose, the shower was barely more than a sprinkle of water. The bath was marked and damaged. Slightly over priced for the not modern state of the hotel.

The staff was amazing and helped us with our bags up to the top floor. There is no elevator, if that is an issue for accessibility for some. Only complaint was that the water pressure in the shower was very low. Not sure if this is exclusive to the top floor or in all rooms. The atmosphere was amazing, though. The bed was super comfortable. The area was perfect. 5-10 min to Portobello Street Market and lots of restaurants and shops. Its a 2 min walk to 3 different tube lines so perfect for getting around. Was 20 min to any major attraction on the tube.

Staff was friendly and accommodating. They took care of our luggage and put it in our room when our room was ready. The building is old but has great charm.

Fairly run down, absolutely awful old broken mattress, so tiny bed, both had a sore back because of it. Small bathroom that needs a full renovation. Bathtub is corroded from where the water comes out of the spa jets. Looks so dirty and unhygienic. Big chunk of peeling paint in the bathroom too. Felt like a halfway house. TV on the wall, well my laptop screen is bigger ! Not a smart TV. Convenient location. But happy to leave.

This could be an amazing updated old hotel with so many possibilities. They have been re-opened for two years, but painting shoddy and careless, carpet dirty, must smell on lower level, broken furniture and flowerpots pushed to side with dead flowers. Even if things not finished little things like flowerpots, hanging baskets clean outdoor patio with more tables and maybe umbrellas and a place for garbage and swept and wiped daily without customers having to ask would be nice. One day staff gentlemen was friendly, the rest were not. This once beautiful 1856 hotel has so much potential but we were very disappointed with what they have carelessly done. the neighborhood is gorgeous and this place just looks tired. The only upside was the bed was comfortable, thank goodness we had good weather because we did not want to be in our room and there was no where inside to relax.
