Fun day <3
Driving toward the eastern front of the Sierra Nevada in The Owens Valley. Behind those clouds--a rare May snowstorm at the high elevations--is Mount Whitney, until 1959 the tallest peak in the United States. When Alaska became a state in that year, Mt. Whitney fell to number 12. I climbed the 14,505ft/4,421m peak twice as a Boy Scout.
View of Mount Whitney, the highest point in the "lower 48" at 14,501 feet.

Over all really nice stay. Friendly staff, clean comfortable room. I like that you get an assigned parking spot. But the parking spots are over all very small. Parked between a mid size SUV and a minivan and I could barely squeeze in. Would rather park a few more steps away than be squeezed in so ...

Good enough for stopover night. Not much choice of eating places. I would recommend moving onto Bishop, a little further don the road. More bustle.
