Super wellbeing location but quite remote

We had a very relaxing 1 night stay at this pretty spa-style hotel in the Tuscan hills. Disappointingly, the restaurant was closed forcing us to travel to a nearby town, but we had a great experience and excellent meal. Overall it was very pleasant, but quite expensive.

July 2024 vacation

Pool was amazing. Dinner prepared by the chef was the best in Italy. The staff are so nice and helpful. The breakfast buffet was delicious and contained a wide assortment of foods.

Pretty place, Stefania went above and beyond to help us. Showers were too too small not even to move around and use hand held shower. Otherwise breakfast was superb and property was lovely, we would have enjoyed more if we had stayed longer. Rooms could have accommodated more than three and we could have saved money. Stefani’s solved our transportation problems

This was a beautiful property situated between Pisa and Lucca. It’s an older hotel but all of the amenities including air conditioning were good. Amazing pool area and loungers and you can run down to the lobby to get drinks and other snacks. We had a family room which had an upstairs with a king bed and downstairs there were two twin beds for the kids. Lots of good food options near by. Only negative was that the breakfast provided by the hotel wasn’t great in terms of quality or quantity of options available. They seemed to run out of things regularly and not be replaced.

Stayed in the the Junior suit with a balcony and beautiful view. The staff is so friendly and helpful like a big family! Typical Italian rustic style but very charming hotel. Lucca only about 8 minutes away by car. Will come back again! Breakfasts are the same every day which is a bit boring . We would like to have more options like a fruit salad / soft fruit and tomatoes and eggs to choose from. Other than that - lovely place to stay. Thank you all for looking after us . Barbara and Mark

Lovely villa hotel with wonderful food and staff. Halfway between Pisa and Lucca. The pool and grounds were a delight. Great place to recover from a long flight from the US.

There are much better hotels in this price class. Restaurant was not particularly good. Send back a couple of meals. The restaurant food didn’t seem very fresh which is highly unusual I this part of the world. The rooms were ok but dated, like I say better places to stay on this price class

Spot on in Lucca

During a 3 week road trip from London to Italy (& back) we’ve taken in quite a few hotels at various price brackets. For value & friendly service this hotel ranks highly. The pool is big enough so that even if there are families with young children in it, other adults can still enjoy a dip. All members of staff were very helpful & friendly. A beautiful spot for dinner at the top of the tree lined drive.

Villa Cheli was beautiful, we were sorry when we had to leave. We stayed 4 nights as part of a larger holiday and wish we'd had longer. The pool is a great size and there was never more than a few people around it. There was a good mix of people, adults and kids and lots of nationalities. The food in the restaurant was very high quality and buffet breakfast had loads of choices. The room was immaculate. It wasn't fancy, but that's not what we were expecting anyway. Nicely decorated and very clean. The staff were friendly and helped with booking taxis when we needed. There is a bus stop right at the end of the drive which is great - only 1.50 for a ticket into Lucca! And you have to visit Lucca - one of the best towns in Italy we've been to. We will definitely go back here.

Great potential!

Potentially this is a lovely hotel in a great position between Lucca and Pisa. However, several things spoil the overall charm. The lack of staff is apparent with the reception staff doing most jobs. We didn't see anyone looking after the breakfast tables. The dining room itself is very unappealing. There is no bar area to sit and enjoy a drink. We had cold nights so outside was not an option in the evening. Just as well it was cool as there was no obvious air conditioning. The bedrooms and beds were large, but the bed was too hard and uncomfortable. Worst was the incessantly barking dogs behind the property that kept us awake. The pool area looked lovely but even in September the water was too cold for swimming.

What a charming place. I just loved it! It is a dream! Lots of green areas, parking is a plus, the place is ancient, but is very well kept! The outside is so charming. The room was like... going back in time! So charming! The room had air conditioning, and the bathroom is great, quite new. Staff is extremely friendly. We had dinner there one night and food is fantastic. Their Chianti wine is so good! And the best was when I was leaving and Signore Antonio spend some precious minutes chatting with me about the history of this place, which was just incredible to hear. The place has 800+ years, but it is very well maintained. This is a beautiful hotel! I could not enjoy the beautiful swiming pool because it is November and it is chilly, and so the pool was closed. But it is a beautiful swiming pool. This place is only 10 minutes from Lucca and around 20 minutes from Pisa.
