"We had a great stay at Smith Mountain Lake. The house was the perfect size and layout for our family--two parents, one grandma, and two kids. My ten-year-old son loved his own space with the video games on the lower level. My six-year-old daughter shared the upstairs level and bathroom with us, and Grandma had her own bathroom on the main level. The kids had a great time swimming in the cove, even with the lower water depth this year, and we all enjoyed kayaking and roasting hot dogs and s'mores around the campfire at night. Sunset views from the dock and decks were amazing. We took a Virginia Dare lake cruise and had a fun evening at The Lucky Duck and Cancun Bar & Grill in Bridgewater Plaza. We also easily rented a pontoon boat one afternoon at Parkway Marina and cruised over to Mitchell's Landing and to the SML State Park beach. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen was well appointed. Check-in and check-out were a breeze. There's a small market up the street and a Food Lion nearby. The hill down to the cove is quite steep, and there is only a very narrow path to get to the water or ladders off the dock, so must be careful with small children and at night."
