Nice apartment in Madeira
We really enjoyed our stay at Vila Formosa. It is in a great location, close to many restaurants and shopping. A short bus ride to Old Town Funchal. The apartment is is well equipped and spacious. The beach is nearby and has a nice promenade to wander along. Our host ,Natasha, also arranged transportation for us from the airport to the apartment. We would definitely return.

Great view and location
Rented this condo for a month. Loved getting up every morning to a beautiful view of the Atlantic ocean and the west side of the island. It is well situated in the west side of Funchal with good access to the bus to downtown. Can be walked as well. Area is mostly flat. Access to various spots on the island was easy in a rental car. The main East-West highways wasn’t far away. The kitchen was fairly well equipped with a large enough refrigerator, a stove top with oven and a dishwasher. The clothes washing machine likely needs servicing, sometimes is not quite right with the latching mechanism. Several dishes were chipped and should be replaced. Good services in the area with a good grocery store just up the street, cafe, restaurants, hair cutting, car rental. Really not lacking any amenities. All and all, we loved the place.

Generally lovely apartment and area
The pre holiday communication was really good with Natasha organising taxi transfers and answering all our questions, especially about the gym area which is quite important to us. There were a couple of things with the gym when we arrived, there was no working sauna and the jacuzzi that was advertised died a couple of days into our stay, after sounding extremely noisy across the whole pool area prior to this, also on the last day of our stay the gym was unfortunately flooded. The apartment was generally very good with everything you would need for a home from home experience, however some of the crockery could do with replacing as it was very chipped. It would have been nice to have a main door key each as although we travel as a couple we do sometimes go out on our own and had to prearrange being back at a certain time to gain entry to the apartment. The air conditioning in the bedroom was really good, there was also a portable unit for the lounge advertised but this didn’t work and the lounge was very hot without it. I contacted Peter the key holder about this and a problem we had with the main door lock which was very stiff, the day after we arrived. It was however eight days into the holiday before receiving a new fan and the door lock being fixed and key replaced. ( the lock was so stiff it had broken the key fob off trying to turn it). Overall a very nice apartment and location that just needs minor improvements and updating of the website to be totally accurate.

Hi John Sorry about the gym issues, the management firm are aware and are fixing the Jacuzzi as soon as the parts arrive from the mainland. I will have Peter check on the crockery, they are usually pretty quick to replace any breakages. Glad that your overall experience was okay. Natasha

Frankly the best holiday we have ever gone on. Apartment was in a perfect location and was well equipped, spotless and with the most incredible views we’ve ever seen. The island itself was loaded with great food, great people and great weather. We’d come back in an instant. Thanks to our hostess.

The property has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The store was a short walk away. The bus can be easily accessed. Only downer was the construction work taking place between the condo and ocean front. They work long hours. But the weather was beautiful the whole time we were there. The people are nice and there's lots to do.

An amazing location with a spectacular view. The sound of the surf from Formosa beach just below the condo put us to sleep every night. A couple for minor maintenance issues were handled promptly.

Very comfortable apartment
Very nice apartment close to Praia Formosa with access to infinity pool, gym and hot tub. Pedestrian access from Estrada Monumentale using the roadway not easy with cases, but once inside access down to Praia Formosa or back up to the Estrada fairly easy via side gate by the pool.

The most spectacular sunsets ever!
We loved the location, approx 3 km from Funchal and a wonderful walkway west to a quaint fishing village Camaro de Lobos with cafes along the way. The unit was well stocked and comfortable decks overlooking the beautiful Atlantic captured are attention every night with breathtaking sunsets. The pool was very refreshing after a day of exploring.the beautiful island.

Amazing Views
We had an amazing stay, everything that we required of a rental property was provided. One point to note is that there should be more emphasis in the property description about the entrance to the property, 32 steep steps and a two section very steep driveway. The description mentions lots of steps down to the beach but doesn’t mention the steepness of the access to the property. We managed the challenge but someone older or with limited fitness would have struggled. Owner was very helpful when we were missing a key.

Lovely apartment, amazing view and great location
This was our second stay in this apartment and it was as lovely as we remembered - even better in fact as there have been improvements since our last stay (including very welcomed air conditioning in the bedroom). The views from the balconies are breathtaking, the apartment is well-equipped and the included parking space is fantastic. If you have a car, then the location is great for exporing the rest of the island - just a few minutes away from the VR1. However, you could happily stay here without a car. The bustop is right outside with a very regular and inexpensive bus route into Funchal and beyond. There are lots of great bars and restaurants within walking distance. Would definitely stay again.

Pandemic Issues dominated our stay.
Unit was as advertised. Comfy, with great views. A lot of climbing to go anywhere. Unfortunatly, Covid19, cut our trip in half. Airline price gouging & missmanagement added to the sheer terror of traveling during a pandemic. As yet no solution for dates not used with the owner.

A lovely New Year stay
The flat is very well equipped and appointed and it was great to be able to walk into Funchal and Camara de Lobos. Overall we had a lovely time and enjoyed the NYE fireworks. The only downside was that we couldn’t get the washing machine to work and some light bulbs needed replacing. We tried contacting the key holder by texts and phoning but got no response. This could have been a bigger problem if we’d got locked out.

Memorable Madeira
Really lovely accommodation in a great location. Everything we needed was in the apartment and the information pack provided by the owners was first class. Madeira is a hilly place and there are lots of steps up and down from the apartment which certainly keep you fit, but if you are happy to walk and catch the local buses which are regular and not expensive you don’t need a car. We had a great holiday, many thanks to Natasha for the use of your apartment.

Great location and lovely apartment with amazing views
The apartment was a lovely place to come back to after a day of sightseeing. It has a beautiful unobstructed view toward the west and sunsets. It is on the western edge of the hotel area and is therefore quiet. The apartment was clean and well appointed with everything that could be needed. Good restaurants and a handy little market nearby. Natasha sent a very detailed booklet to us before our departure that included information about the apartment as well as restaurant recommendations and bus schedules. We arranged through Natasha to be met at the airport by Manuel who drove us to and from the airport. Rita met us at the apartment and explained everything to us. We really enjoyed our 9 nights. We saw many sights and enjoyed our time at the Villa Formosa. Thank you.

Funchal town centre is a short journey by local bus which are very frequent and cheap. We would also highly recommend Manuels tour of the island this was one of our highlights of the holiday. Amazing view
We was looking for a place to stay for our first ever trip to Madeira, and we couldn't have found a more cleaner beautiful place as villa formosa with it's stunning views from both balconies, the apartment was just perfect for 2 people to explore the area situated just outside funchal, we opted not to rent a car but to explore by foot, there are a lot of hills slopes and steps in funchal so not for the faint hearted, we walked into the marina which took us 1hr and in the evenings we could walk to some lovely restaurants and bars within half hour and there are some lovely local places as well, the pool area was lovely with its infinity pool and jacuzzi overlooking the beach there's even a gymnasium if needed, overall we had a pleasant experience in villa formosa and natasha was helpful all way up to us arriving. Loved everything about this apartment. Lovely, well equipped apartment in great location. Easy to get to the centre of Funchal but great also to explore the rest of the island. We had a hire car and there were excellent parking facilities. Only a few minutes drive to pick up the main road. Two spacious balconies, both with amazing views over the pool, sea and cliff face scenery. Lots of local amenities. We had great weather, so the pool and hot tub was a added bonus. Would definitely stay there again.

Five Star Apartment with a Five Star View
We had a great stay here in February 2018, a well equipped apartment and a smashing base from which to explore Maderia island from. Quiet and warm in the evening. Kitchen perfect if you want to self-cater. Otherwise restaurants very close by. We loved it, hope to come again. Communication with owners was perfect and gave us all the information we needed. Excellent holiday / apartment pack includes a map. We never got lost once. I would say we saw 95% of the island. A great adventure.

Great find!!
Spacious, comfortable apartment with magnificent views over the bay. Well appointed with all mod cons and plenty of spare linen and towels if required. Lovely, if cold, infinity pool, jacuzzi and access to the gym if that's what you want to do! At this time of year there is no sun around the pool until about midday or on the apartment balconies until late afternoon, but sure that this isn't the case later in the summer. The only drawback we can see is the access which is a very steep slope and 4 small flights of steps that would be difficult for anyone disabled or not very active. All in all we would love to stay again at some time.

A lovely relaxing, quiet stay in Funchal
This is a lovely one bedroomed apartment on the edge of Funchal. There is also a separate kitchen and utility room. We loved sitting on the balconies (there are two) looking at the view of the pool, the beach and the Cabo Girao cliffs. It's a bit of a steep walk through the complex to the road at the top, but immediately outside there are bus stops to take you to into the centre of Funchal.

The apartment was exceptionally clean, very comfortable and was in a great location with lovely view
We were greeted when we arrived, shown the apartment and provided with all info and keys needed. The apartment has great sea views and a lovely pool and just a couple of minutes walk to the beach and a lovely walk into the City Centre. It is very close to shops, bars and restaurants and the Island is stunning. We would definately return and highly recommend Villa Formosa. There is a bus stop right outside and great coffee shop across the road. The people of Madeira are charming.

Vila Formosa
We were met at the airport by not Manuel (but his nephew), and taken to the Vila Formosa, where Rita showed us in. The Vila was clean with lovely view out to sea and overlooking the pool. We found the information that the owner had sent beforehand very useful, our first trip was to the supermarket which is a good 10/15 min walk - it may have been best to get a taxi back whilst carrying our purchases (wine,beer,gin!) also some food. All other supplies we just nipped up to the row of shops opposite the Vila complex, where buses also ran from. This was our first trip to Madeira and found the week went very quickly, the situation suited us as quieter than being in Funchal centre, the pool did get busier at weekends, but for a lot of the time we had it to ourselves. We found an excellent pizza place not far away, turn left out of gates, carry on past round-about, cross road turn left up by the Brazilian steak bar, Papa 2 further up that road - very reasonable they will, if asked, wrap up what you cannot eat bring home for lunch the next day! You do need to be prepared to do a fair bit of walking, if like us we did not hire a car, but the buses are frequent we did buy a 5 day ticket, which saves Hassel. Our only criticism would be the sofa was not particularly comfortable and the pillows left a bit to be desired, but now I am nit picking! We hope to go again.

Just Perfect!
The apartment is great! The views are unbeatable! Distance to the old town is 15-20 mins on the bus, buses No1 & No2 run outside the apartment all the time! Apartment was clean and has everything you need for a couple. We were met by Peter, the guy managing the property, he showed us everything we had to know, nice guy! Mark replied to all my emails and answered all my questions. Thanks Mark. I recommend this apartment for a couple looking to visit Madeira!

Bel appartement, bien équipé et grand. Et bien situé au milieu de l ile. Le petit bémol c'est l insonorisation qui n est pas au top puisque l on entend les voisins du dessus. Le jaccouzzi est vieillissant et ne faisait pas de bulles. Des travaux viennent de commencer pour la construction d'un nouveau complexe juste devant le bâtiment dommage...

We had a fantastic stay in Natasha's apartment in Villa Formosa. A very nice place. Everything was present in the apartment. It was also lovely outside by the pool. And the view is really beautiful. The only thing unfortunate was that the sofa in the living room was not a sofa bed. (for people who want to sleep separately) But again, a wonderful apartment.

Awesome location.
Very friendly owners, nice location. Everything is easily reachable via bus. It was a very pleasant stay, everything was clean and in pretty good shape. For the price definitely one of the best apartments. The view is awesome! Pool is nice at the end of the day. Sadly the whirlpool is shut down at approx. 8pm and over the course of the day gull of children. Therefore not really usable to chill at the end of a day. But other than that, I would always recommend this apartment!

Wonderful stay
Great apartment in a great location near Praia Formosa and the Forum. Pool was cleaned every morning and the area is very safe. Hosts also organised airport transport for us and cane to change towels and bedding half way through our stay. There is a washing machine in the apartment which is a great plus for longer stays. Would definitely stay here again on my next visit to Madeira. Maybe not ideal if you are elderly and do not have a car due to the steps/ramp you have to climb to leave the apartment but this wasn’t a negative point for us.

Awesome apartment with a great view of the ocean, the pool and magnificent cliffs and amazing sunsets ! The apartment is well located west of Funchal which is an ideal basecamp to visit the island. It is also well equiped and has a lot of room for two. The residence is calm and clean. The pool, jacuzzy and fitness centre are a real plus. Our contacts were extremely nice and helpful.
