Lovely holiday villa
Cristina is an exceptional host - having an evening meal prepared on arrival was a really thoughtful touch and much appreciated. We loved our stay at Cristina's amazing house. The location was beautiful, with a spotless kitchen, garden, pool and moreover gorgeous views of the ocean and Calheta. Cristina was above and beyond an incredible host. She was so generous with food, supporting us when our luggage was lost and overall a beautiful person.

Island Paradise
We just spent a wonderful week at Cristina's Island Paradise and would confidently recommend her home to anyone travelling to Madeira. The pictures, while beautiful pale in comparison to actually being there. After sightseeing all day, we couldn't wait to get back home and settle in for the evening. The house is so comfortable and homey in so many different areas and we took advantage of all of them. Cristina is genuinely one of the nicest people we have encountered in our travels and always went above and beyond to help you whenever she could. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us! Amazing Madeira home, view, and treatment!
My husband and I spent one week in this extraordinarily beautiful holiday house overlooking the town of Arco da Calheta and the ocean. The house is beautifully decorated and supplied and Cristina, the owner, provided amazing service and kindness. The night we arrived, greatly delayed, she actually met us at 2 am at the edge of town to lead us to and show us the house. She was extremely responsive and generous all week, even preparing us a beautiful, delicious dinner served on the deck one evening. The town, although somewhat challenging to navigate, is centrally located for day trips and beautiful hikes. The restaurants at the beach serve good food and offer welcoming and relaxed environments, as well as sunset and moonlit views. Thank you, Cristina, for such a wonderful week! Ann

Lovely place and host.

We had an incredible experience at this beautiful house. Cristina was a wonderful host from beginning to end and exceeded our expectations with delicious food on arrival, cleaning service and room turn down twice during our stay, lots of tips and information and even treats and surprises for the kids. We looked forward to returning to the house every day for a swim and relax. The photos don’t even do justice to how beautiful and spacious the property and views are. Calheta is a great base for exploring the the island with lots of good restaurants and excursion options from the harbour. Will definitely be back.

Don't think twice about booking this place
This was one of the best houses we have ever stayed in. The host is such a kind person . Unfortunately our flight arrived super late and she had no problems waiting to meet us at 2 am. The road to the house is windy and a bit step but after being showed the route we had zero problems. Beds was very comfortable. We cant wait to be back

Perfect choice

A very relaxing place to stay
OK, this was our first VRBO booking and it will certainly not be our last. With all the C19 rubbish going on - they have been brilliant with cancellations and refunds. On to our stay at the "Sun & Moon" at Arco da Calheta. It was brilliant. From the start, the comms from Christina were spot on - nice and regular with lots of information. We were 4 hours late landing - but still met up and drove up into the hills. The location (for us) was spot-on. We didn't want to be in Funchal or mass-produced hotel on the coast and the villa is nestled in the hills up some windy roads. Views are really great at all times of the day, and nice and quiet. The villa was spotlessly clean and Dora the cleaner didn't leave any stone unturned - even doing our washing when we were out fot the day which was a nice surprise! Our daughter spent every hour at the villa in the pool - a nice temperature when you got in. Pool towels were provided which cut down on our luggage weight considerably. The main bedroom's bed is massive and comfy mattress - a really good night sleep. The BBQ/ pizza oven annex is really great as well - we BBQ'd a lot. But it was the little touches that really stand out - like cotton buds being provided. Having two teenagers we were relieved the wifi was quick and reliable. The place even comes with its own secure garage (not massive, but we got our rental Focus Estate in there). Locally there are supermarkets (scary parking) and only 20 minutes to Funchal with a really easy drive. We parked in CR7 car park on the sea front and it wasn't massively expensive. In fact, most places on the island are no more than an hour's drive from the villa. We really enjoyed the stay and cannot thank Christina enough for making our holiday special.

Unbelievable property high above the Atlantic testing the clutch of our rental car. Perfectly maintained and managed, with the manager meeting us at the base of the town to lead us up the winding steep route to the property, several times. A delicious home cooked meal awaited us upon arrival, along with some homemade Madeira. We hope to return in warmer weather to make use of the second kitchen and pool. Hopefully Cristina will greet us again.

Fabulous holiday home
Cristina is an amazing host, we very much appreciated her accommodating approach. Lunch on arrival and a bottle of Madeira wine were a lovely welcome. We also received gifts of fruit and eggs. The house although large has the warmth of a home. There are many outside areas to enjoy the sun, beautiful garden and views. The pool was a delight and eventually warmed up with 24hr rather than just overnight heating. We found it an easy drive to Funchal. Enjoyed being just above the yellow sand beaches of Calheta with its restaurants and the 25 Fontes lavada walk just a short drive away. Would very much recommend this property.

Fabulous visit
It's no wonder that everyone rates this villa and owner 5 stars! Cristina was a perfect host: she made lunch for us when we arrived, took us to the local supermarket and even bought souvenirs for my kids when we left! We all wished we could stay longer.... You feel like you have been welcomed into Cristina's family home rather than an impersonal holiday rental. The villa was perfect with wonderful views and we all enjoyed the pool (even if it was a little chilly in October 😁) Would definitely book this villa with Cristina again. But make sure that you have a hire car as not everyone would want to walk the winding steep hills that give the villa such fabulous coastal views.

Beautiful villa can’t fault, however you will definitely need a car or pay €15 per trip to marina for shop and restaurants (10 min taxi journey). Only fault was guests who were coming into villa after our stay had apparently changed their flights so we were asked to leave at 10am on our last day which was very inconvenient due to our flight home being 20.25hrs. This sadly spoilt our last day as we had to pay for luggage hold in Funchal and wait around for 10hrs before our flight with a daughter who was ill with an ear infection. We didn’t arrive in the villa until 21.00hrs on on first day so we really lost 2 days of our stay in the villa? If known earlier we would have arranged earlier flight, however apart from that can’t fault the villa and it’s fantastic views.

We have been lucky enough to stay in some lovely places but this place is the best ever. I genuinely cannot think of one thing that I would change. The house is beautiful, spotless and so comfortable and has every available amenity. The outdoor area is immaculate and the pool is great. The views are also to die for. The biggest highlight for us was the outdoor kitchen/bar area which we spent many a happy hour using ! There is wine and beer available and you just pay as you use it at very cheap prices !! We ate in a few times as we wanted to make use of the facilities, barbecue, pizza oven and outdoor kitchen and whilst a car would be useful it is not completely necessary as the local taxi service is brilliant to get to and from some really good restaurants within a 5 to 10 minute drive. There are a couple of shops and bars within walking distance but be aware it is a very steep hill to negotiate. Great if you like walking and want to keep fit though. Finally, I have to mention the lovely owner,Cristina. She really could not do any more to help. She picked us up from the airport, drove me to the supermarket, arranged a lovely meal for when we arrived, had the maid make us some amazing custard tarts and was just genuinely lovely and friendly every time we spoke both during the booking process and throughout our stay. Wow! Stunning Villa
Wonderful stay! Beautiful Villa with no expense spared. Cristina is a fantastic host. On the first night, knowing we’d got to self isolate for 12 hours unexpectedly she’d organised a 3 course meal for us and once she’d realised it was a Birthday for one of us she organised a Birthday cake and Champagne! What a lovely surprise and thoughtful gift! The villa has lovely views and well equipped throughout , with use of everything you see. Can’t fault the stay and would definitely recommend. If you want a stunning villa in a peaceful location , just a drive away from main events then this villa is a must.

We had a awesome time in Madeira experiencing and exploring the island !! We arrived at this house and it was absolutely amazing !! The house is beautiful , very clean and well equipped for every need .. You have an indoor and a outdoor kitchen. You also have very comfortable outside seating options ..The views overlooking the ocean are beautiful and very relaxing to sit outside and enjoy the beauty !! Christina is an amazing host!! She met us on the outskirts of the village and took us to the house ..Upon meeting her we immediately knew she was filled with warmth , love and kindness!! She had a wonderful meal prepared for us upon arrival which was awesome considering we had gotten up at 4 AM for our flights and have not had time to eat anything yet...She is a very wonderful and gracious host!!! We do a good bit of traveling and have been in 16 countries and throughout most of the US and Canada .. I always use Homeaway for our vacation stays and have stayed at many different apartments and houses!! We have stayed at many nice places but Christina’s home was the best we have ever had!!! Can highly recommend staying here as it is a good base to explore the whole island the furthest reaches of the island can be reached in about an hour and 15 minutes from this house.. Thank you Christina for a wonderful stay!!!

Perfect property with a wonderful owner and host.
This was our first visit to Madeira and will not be our last. The property was fantastic with everything you could wish for. Cristina met us at the edge of the village on our arrival and took us to the Villa. Our flight was quite late on the Friday night so we would have struggled to find the Villa in the dark. When we arrived Cristina had prepared a wonderful meal for us even though it was well into the evening. I cannot praise Cristinas hospitality highly enough hosting us in her wonderful home. Cristina and her husband live in an annexe attached to the house, but you would never know it. In all honesty, the property was wasted on us. It has the most wonderful secondary kitchen with pizza oven, barbecue and bar area. But we ate out every night in one of the numerous local bars and restaurants. To make it even more special Dora came in twice a week to keep the Villa spotless and went way beyond what you would have expected. It was like having the facilities of a hotel but with the privacy and flexibility of a Villa.

This is a beautiful house set high above Arco Da Calheta. Elegantly furnished to a high standard. Plenty of nice crockery, cutlery, and fine glassware and table linens for when we had dinner in the evening. The kitchen was well provided for, and had no problems in making meals. The fridge was large and there was another fridge with a freezer it the outside kitchen. Great to have a dish washer. The main bedroom was very large, as was the bed. The 2nd bedroom was more than big enough if 4 people were staying. This house is huge. It is well looked after, and Dora came in every 3 days to change the sheets, towels, and clean. She always ensured that we had fresh flowers which was a nice touch. She did cook for us, but we had to ask her not too because of dietary problems. We did appreciate her effort though. The weather was not as good as we thought it would be so didn't use the pool much, however a nice place to sun bathe.The garden is beautiful, and there is a lovely large balcony/ patio area on the first floor with wonderful views over the village. The owner Cristina lives in a sectioned off part of the house. She is very discrete. She is very pleasant and is a wonderful host and nothing is too much trouble for her. In fact I left my camera, and she has very kindly posted it back to me. Thank you Cristina, and Dora . There is a wonderful Lavada walk on the mountain above the property. A bit exposed in places, so you would have to be extremely careful if you decided to do it. At the moment some Lavada walks are closed due to the building of the new hydro electric dam. It's not clear when you set off, only to come across a closed sign when you try to continue the walk.You are then faced with reversing your route, or trying to find away round which could take you miles out of you way.

A wonderful holiday in a fantastic property in a beautiful location. Cristina is the perfect host.
Cristina has a beautiful, spacious house set in a lovely, well maintained garden with some unusual plants. The house is located high above Arco de Calheta and has a wonderful panoramic view across the hillside and bay. The property is very comfortable and well equipped and had all that we needed to prepare meals at home. There is a fully equipped second kitchen, including barbecue, for preparing food for outside eating. Everything in the house is high quality and provides for a comfortable, relaxing holiday. Cristina is a generous, welcoming host who ensures that everything around the property is well organised. She lives next door and is available to help with any problems or enquiries, but does not impose whatsoever. A special mention for Cristina's helper, Dora, who keeps the house immaculately clean and provides delicious, unexpected meals. We had a hire car for our stay and enjoyed exploring the beautiful Madeiran countryside, even if the driving was a bit exciting at times - the hills are plentiful and steep. Thank you very much, Cristina, we hope to return before too long.

We have rented a number of villas previously but never seen one with such a high rating, also we have never given 5 stars to any villa previously. Christina was, as previously stated by other guests, an excellent host. The villa is large with every amenity we could want and beautifully kept. There was a lovely meal waiting on arrival which was very welcome after a long journey. The rooms are large and beautifully furnished. The pool is a good size. The indoor BBQ area even has its own dishwasher and large fridge and pizza oven. Maid service with clean towels and sheets mid-week. Stunning villa, Stunning views, , Fantastic host, we would thoroughly recommend!

Great Accommodation and excellent hospitality.
We have just returned from a week at Sun and Moon. We had only been there 24 hours before we decided we would definitely been returning! The booking process was easy and Christina, the owner, kept in touch when we booked, sent us the arrival details and met us easily as planned ( we were early and so was Christina!). We had an excellent introduction to the villa and Christina made sure we were happy everything was as we expected before she left us with a delicious homemade dinner and cake. The villa was bigger than we expected and it was well furnished, tastefully presented, very well maintained and was good quality throughout. The bathrooms were excellent with loads of hot water and good showers, the kitchen was well equipped and if that was not enough there was also a fully equipped outdoor kitchen with BBQ and pizza oven. On the cooler evenings the log burning stove in the sitting room was a real treat. Outside the garden was lovely and the view was awesome. The pool was a bonus though we decided that we would wait for a warmer visit before we tried it out! The maid service half way through our stay was great with fresh bedding and towels and all our laundry attended to. The location was great as we wanted to explore as much of the island as possible and though there were bars close by and restaurants a short drive away we ate in most nights (the supermarket was 5 minutes away by car). Christina's hospitality was exactly right. She made sure we had her telephone number if we needed anything, she called in a couple of times to make sure we were enjoying our stay and we were always delighted to see her especially when she brought a selection of fruit from her garden! When we left she told us that if there was any problem at the airport (it sometimes closes due to high winds) we must call her immediately and she would ensure we did not end up stuck at the airport overnight! Would we recommend Sun and Moon - most certainly and without hesitation. Would we return - most certainly and without hesitation. Was Christina a great host - most certainly. The only thing we would do differently next time is to make sure we stayed for longer and we picked a nicer week for the weather so we could take full advantage of the pool, outdoor kitchen and huge, sunny, balcony! Thanks Christina for a creating the perfect holiday home that formed the basis of a fantastic holiday! We look forward to returning.

Cristina had a meal prepared for us, roast chicken, which was very welcome as we had an evening flight. Ultimate family getaway

Heaven on earth
Our family of four stayed at this wonderful villa in April 2017. The property is absolutely perfect. Beautifully maintained and very tastefully decorated . It was luxurious! Thought and consideration had been put into everything, from the kitchen appliances (both inside and outside), and tablewear to the fluffy towels and cotton wool balls in the bathrooms! The view is stunning and waking every morning to that vista was a gift. The bedrooms were very comfortable and a great size with plenty of wardrobe space. The pool area was just stunning and the icing on the cake was the outside kitchen where we did most of our dining. What made this holiday so special was Cristina herself and her wonderful hospitality! What a welcome we received ! What cakes ! What a warm, genuine host! We are certainly going to return. Wir wären gerne für immer geblieben...
Als erstes möchte ich erwähnen welch eine tolle Gastgeberin Christina ist. So eine herzliche und freundliche Gastgeberin durften wir noch nie kennenlernen. Wir wurden mit einem sehr leckeren Abendessen empfangen ,es waren Getränke vorbereitet und Christina war immer sofort da wenn es Fragen gab. Das ist nicht selbstverständlich heutzutage. Vielen lieben Dank dafür Christina. Die Villa ist ein Traum. Man findet alles genauso vor wie auf den Bildern. Wenn nicht sogar besser. Der Ausblick auf das Meer und die Berge ist wunderbar. Der Garten ist ein Traum. Man merkt wieviel Herz und Liebe investiert wurde. Wir bekamen sogar eine Reinigung und kompletten Wäschewechsel obwohl wir nur 1 Woche Gäste waren. Herrliche Unterkunft auf der Blumeninsel
Ein fantastischer Urlaub liegt hinter uns. Madeira ist wunderschön, wenn man abwechslungsreiche Landschaften mag und gern in der Natur unterwegs ist. Die Krönung war diese tolle Unterkunft und die Wärme, mit der wir dort begrüßt und umsorgt wurden. Cristina ist eine Perle. Vielen Dank für die Nettigkeiten, den leckeren Kuchen und das selbstgemachte Eis. Nie wurden wir in einer Ferienwohnung herzlicher empfangen! Die Wohnung ist liebevoll eingerichtet, sauber, großzügig und hat einen hübschen Garten sowie einen tollen Ausblick. Wir fühlten uns super wohl! Obrigada!

Entspannter Aufenthalt - einfach perfekt
Wir hatten wunderschöne Tage in Cristina‘s Haus. Das Haus lässt keine Wünsche offen. Es ist sehr ruhig, ein schöner Ausblick über das Meer, der Pool ist sehr schön und groß, der Garten ist wunderschön. Das Haus ist mit allem ausgestattet was man braucht und sehr liebevoll gestaltet und geschmackvoll dekoriert. Es bleiben keine Wünsche offen. Vom Kamin, über Bademäntel, eine Saftpresse, vollausgestattete Küche, eine Garage und eine große Grillmöglichkeit. Cristina ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Sie hat uns sogar mit Selbstgekochtem Essen verwöhnt. Wir haben uns rundum Wohlgefühlt und kommen gerne zurück. Vielen lieben Dank!

Ein wunderschönes Ferienhaus in ruhiger Lage, mit Blick auf das ca. 10 Minuten entfernte Meer. Das Ferienhaus hat alles, was man braucht, und eine sehr liebevolle Gastgeberin, die um das Wohl ihrer Gäste aufrichtig bemüht ist. Besser könnte es nicht sein! Herzlichen Dank für den perfekten Urlaub!

Belle maison, grand accueil !
Accueil généreux et amicale de Cristina dans sa très belle et confortable villa, tout est parfait et conforme aux explications de l'annonce. Emplacement parfait de la maison pour rayonner dans toute l'île. De bonnes vacances avec deux grands ados exigeants, comblés par la maison !! Merci Cristina.
