"We could hear the loons on Echo Lake! So this was a plus! We loved sitting on the back patio to look at the lake! This was a great place from which we could explore all of Mount Desert Island. We don't like crowds so much, so did not go into Bar Harbor too much, but loved the proximity to Southwest Harbor and is on offer there. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well-equipped, the house was clean. Having a washer and dryer on premises was a plus. We were not wanting at all. The little IGA store just a few minutes away was sufficient for all our grocery needs. Our hosts were friendly and helpful. We loved Common Good in Southwest Harbor that has live music (including a 25 piece ukulele band on Sundays) and free popovers! Pets are welcome!"

"Kimberly's house was just as advertised. It's an adorable old farmhouse with character. The kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked: plenty of utensils and dishware, coffee and filters, and she placed crackers and cheese, local blueberry and root beer sodas and a bottle of wine in the refrigerator! Plenty of towels, too, which my wife always likes. Yes, the place can get loud with the road noise, but we closed the bedroom windows at bedtime which made a huge difference. The provided fans and open windows in the kitchen kept the place cool overnight for sleeping."

"We originally looked at staying in Bar Harbour. So glad we chose this place. It was only 20 mins from town and Acadia National Park. The place was very clean and quite. Would highly recommend."

"This rental was perfect for our party of 10, especially having a dining table big enough for all of us! There were enough beds for everyone and room to spread out. My children loved playing with Murray and we loved cooking out in the backyard and the water views from the bedrooms. We also enjoyed the quirkiness of the older property. Cannot beat the price and location of this rental in relation to Acadia and other must-see areas of the island."

"Overall, this was a great place to stay, with lots of space, clean rooms, great central location on Desert Island, and easy check in. Our big complaint was there were dirty dishes put away, and some basic neglected property maintenance, including water filter on refrigerator needing to be changed, a very old and broken Adirondack chair in the back and a few other minor things. This property appears to be run by a larger agency and lacks some of that extra personal attention you often can find in other properties. I did send all this feedback to them directly and they apologized and said would address. Be good to see people who rent this after us if they see the changes or not. With extra personal attention it certainly can be 5 stars, but otherwise if this is how the property is going to be managed, then it should come at a lower price in my opinion."
