Relatively undiscovered, this corner of Yorkshire has provided inspiration for the famous Hockney paintings and local artist Robert Fuller, who has an interesting gallery in nearby Thixendale. There are numerous walks and cycle trails locally, and for convenience, a bike store is available at the property. The neighbouring village of Rillington has a useful range of facilities with two pubs, fish and chip shop, general store and a post office, and there is a farmhouse bakery and a coffee shop in nearby Scampston, 2 miles.
