"Room was an un-renovated room. Clean with a very comfortable bed and pillows. Great value for money. Rob was very helpful at reception Nice location for amenities. Short walk through town to the sea front. Will definitely stay again "

"Miss advertising of the room which we were very unhappy about as this was for our wedding day and wedding night. It took looking at 3 rooms and none were the one we booked. Good breakfast with very pleasant staff looking after us. Window cleaner cleaning the windows at 7.30am. Tv turned itself on in the middle of the night. Room wasn’t cleaned in the 3 nights we were there. We did take the bin to be emptied and asked for more tea/coffee which they went and got us and very friendly. Would I stay again or recommend this hotel NO I wouldn’t "

"Room was clean. Staff very polite and helpful. Breakfast was average. Evening meal was very good. Couldn’t get any cold water in our room-it was warm or hot only."

"This was a 1-night stay for work. I was in room 220 which was a long walk from reception. Car park was free, but at the front of the hotel, filled up quickly. The room however was huge as was the ensuite. TV and Wifi okay. Decor a bit dated. Staff were friendly and helpful."

"we had a suite room and it was beautiful with amazing views, the only thing to let it down was the pillows they was so big and hard we didn't sleep, spa was nice we did the mud treatment and that was very fun, it is very dated and needs some new paint work in the spa but apart from that is was lovely. "

"A clean hotel and a pleasant stay for 2 nights. Parking is extremely limited but the West End Road car park is only a short walk away and both reasonable cost and easy to pay via the MiPermit app (which will give you a Vat receipt afterwards). The buffet style breakfast was good and the hotel was very clean and the staff helpful."

"Quirky and incredibly well designed hotel! It can’t be easy remodeling a +500 year old hotel. Location was perfect! Downtown Colchester, walkable to shops and restaurants. Modern amenities, fabulous decor, great location and incredible customer service! I really enjoyed staying in the historic hotel."
