We had stayed at this apartment around three years ago and unfortunately found it considerably more tired and poorly maintained this time.
The biggest problem was sleep. For two consecutive nights we experienced extremely loud disturbance from nearby accommodation. The first night involved loud music until around 3–3.30am together with shouting, arguing and swearing. The second night there was repeated screaming, shouting and arguing throughout the night. The sound insulation is extremely poor – at times it genuinely sounded as though the person shouting was in our bedroom.
Closing the windows did little to solve the problem and, in warm weather, made the bedroom very uncomfortable. Opening them wasn’t much better, as the main bedroom overlooks a badly neglected area containing rubbish, debris and overgrowth, from which there was also an unpleasant smell.
There were problems inside the apartment too. The bedroom blinds were broken, the oven door handle was broken, and the general standard of towels, bedding, pillows and basic provisions was disappointing. We reported the oven handle and sent a video; we were told it would be repaired the following day, but unfortunately this didn’t happen during our stay.
To be fair, Jean-Charles was polite in our communications, and we appreciate that he cannot control the behaviour of neighbouring occupants. However, ultimately this is holiday accommodation and being able to get a reasonable night’s sleep is fundamental. After two night
