"We had a great time and it was amazing to be on the water and to wake up to that view. As others have shared, the sargassum algae is a bummer, but not the property’s fault. We were happy to learn that there was a washer and dryer available to us and the kitchen had everything we needed. Groceries are crazy expensive compared to the mainland, but still nice to have the ability to cook a few meals. The roads definitely make golf cart rentals an adventure, but the right way to get around. We rented a cart through a less expensive company than what the property recommended. It was almost half as expensive but definitely an older cart and possibly a tougher ride. We booked a full day snorkeling tour through Roberto with Tuff E Nuff and it was incredible. The dock pick up was especially nice! La Perla is north of San Pedro by about 5 miles and we enjoyed being in this quieter area, but still had ample restaurants near-by. A great trip overall!! "

"We stayed here for 4 nights (and downtown San Pedro for 4 nights). We had a great time here and wish we could have stayed longer. We took tropic air to San Pedro, Mike coordinated the golf carts, flights, ride to the house and an excursion for us. He was great to work with. He answered ALL our questions and was super helpful with anything we needed. Regarding the property… super clean, we loved the layout, we loved the groundskeeper -so awesome!, the dock was nice to hangout on .. we couldn’t really swim to the reef bc boats fly by there all day long but it was still nice to swim off the side of the dock. If we went back we’d bring flags so we felt safe swimming out toward the reef. The large, sandy yard with volleyball was super fun as well! Kids had a great time. We loved the location to secret beach as that’s the best water and beach on the island in our opinion! It was a short golf cart ride there. We visited the area every day. We also had a couple great meals next door at Portifino hotel .. awesome food and drinks. There is also a great coffee/breakfast spot 10 min away called Sol Cafe. The location and staff can’t be beat. We would definitely stay again! Thanks! "

"Title: Quiet Luxury Meets Island Magic 🌴✨ Portofino Beach Resort on the north side of San Pedro is truly a hidden gem—perfect if you’re looking for a peaceful, relaxing stay while still being close enough to enjoy the fun of Secret Beach. I traveled with my mom, and from the very beginning, the experience was seamless. Even before we arrived, the communication was excellent—they made sure every detail for our beachfront cabana was just right. When we got there, we were welcomed with cocktails, which immediately set the tone for a warm, elevated experience. We stayed in Cabana #6, and I can’t say enough about how beautiful and well-kept everything was. The room was spotless, thoughtfully designed, and felt like a true retreat. You could tell they really care about the details. A huge shoutout to Faura and Rosita at the front desk—they were absolutely exceptional. From pre-arrival communication to in-person service, they went above and beyond to make sure we felt taken care of every step of the way. The food was incredible, and I especially loved the light continental breakfast included with the stay—it was the perfect, easy start to each day in paradise. Whether you’re traveling solo, with a partner, or with family like I was, this place offers such a beautiful and relaxing escape. Belize never disappoints, and San Pedro continues to be one of my favorite places to return to. This was my first stay at Portofino, and it definitely won’t be my last. Highly recommend☀️"

The team made everything effortless, arranging transportation, a golf cart, excursions, and even connecting us with a grocery delivery service so we arrived to a fully stocked villa, which was such a thoughtful and convenient touch.The home itself is truly exceptional. The layout is both spacious and comfortable, beautifully designed without sacrificing functionality. Every bedroom having its own bathroom made a big difference for our family, and the beds were some of the most comfortable we’ve ever experienced. The AC worked perfectly, and the entire space had everything we needed to feel at home.It was a seamless, relaxing, and memorable experience all around. We would absolutely return."

"LaPerla is a great setting with great ocean views.This particular rental was a generous size for 8 people.Our biggest issue is that through the VRBO listing it stated that it has 3 king beds and it only had 3, the 3rd bedroom had a queen. We had 3 couples and 2 children.Not having a 3rd king bed was a huge issue for us.Hopefully that is corrected.The “4th bedroom” is the lower level with a couch, 2 singles and a double.Not exactly a bedroom in my opinion. It is open to the stairway to the kitchen.Overall the place was noisy because it backs up to the street and the most windows were just screens with wooden louvers.Road noise was bothersome for some of us and not others.The unit was pretty well equipped with limited cooking pans and storage.The raised deck made for a nice place to sit and enjoy the view, which was beautiful.We all enjoyed the pool. Amethyst was a little more worn than the pictures show.But still comfortable enough for a rental. The decor was quirky and interesting.The staff at LaPerla were a highlight to our stay.Roberto and his crew took us snorkeling, fishing and cooked a meal for us from our catch. Pretty amazing! They even acted as our taxi back to the airport for departure.You really need a golf cart in Ambergris Caye, it is about 40 minutes give or take to LaPerla from the airport.Your golf cart company will pick you up at airport.Road signs are really not a thing most places.GPS was a must for us. Overall a good stay."
