The hotel was ideal for my work commitments the following day. The price I paid was reflected in the facilities provided. Great staff and nice bar/ restaurant with really good prices.

The Bear is close to the railway station and the rooms are basic but comfortable.
Currently the property does not serve food and during my stay there were no restaurants open in the area. There are takeaways.
There might be a kitchen available to guests but I didn't find it.
I was very happy with my room! It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Unfortunately the walls are very thin and l could hear the people next door talking as if they were in the same room, so even though the bed/bedding was very clean and comfortable l did not get any sleep, l could even hear a conversation someone was having on a phone. The property is advertised as a B&B but they do not do breakfasts. I would definitely stay again if the price was reduced slightly to accommodate not doing breakfast.

the overall stay was ok. There were a few teething problems with the electrics (lighting) and toilet door jamming. we were moved to another room then issues again with electrics (lighting and heating) but it got sorted. The staff were on hand to sort things for us and were really helpful.
The music below made it hard to sleep as it played until 01.30am and the chimes from the clock in the square didnt help. The room was clean and the beds were exceptionally comfortable. it is only bed and not breakfast. How ever you can buy your breakfast in the pub on a morning we chose to go out for it. Be sure to take items like shower gels shampoo and conditioner hairdryer etc as these are not supplied. you are supplied with a small bar of soap. it was an ok experience i guess staying above a pub has pros and cons and each individual has there own preference. its just not for me. 🙁 try for yourself and then decide 🙂👍
The cleaning staff were polite and helpful. A simple room with minimal amenities. Clean and comfortable.

I had a great overnight stay at the bear on the square. The only problem was parking. I worried about leaving my car parked on the square but had no choice. Maybe having some designated parking for the b and b guests would help with this.
Just stayed one night for work.
A very very basic room, the window would not open at the top but whistled most of the night (as quite windy)
No parking was available (only the square opposite the pub).
Also no breakfast was available, normal lunch food menu from noon.
I certainly was an experience😵💫😵💫😵💫
The room was very clean it seemed like it has been recently refurbished but a member of staff said it had been 12 months ago! The thermostat was very useful to keep us warm and the location was very central. The only slight disturbance was the odd characters hanging about near the entrance as there's a pub next door.
Overall a great stay and pleasant staff!
Just spoiled by the constant passing and repassing & accelerating of the same vehicle with a loud exhaust causing noise pollution and this continued until midnight. I must stress that this was not the fault of the residence nevertheless bad enough to be a nuisance. It should also be said that this is budget priced accommodation.
The room was cold on entry as window open, wind was howling, but no handle on the window (was broken and on windowsill) so window could not be closed/secured.
There was a plastic bag over the smoke alarm.
Shower full of mould and stank.
1 bed in the room had a foot missing.
(I have photo evidence of all the above).
Parking 20m? Yes, but limited spaces and only free after 6pm-8am. Alternative car park a small route march, which is a challenge in bad weather.
If ANY other options available, do yourself a favour and do not choose this location!

The very loud rave music blasting right beneath our room till bout 2am
Very dissappointed expirence!! Spent money for booking it, but you can't check-in when you arrived there in the night just only becasue the reception ASSUMED that you will change your mind. I expirenced it and coudn't find any place to live in the mid-night, but before the reception left, they never sent any message or email or gave a call to me, and everyone will think it should be like a normal hotel which you can check-in anytime when you arrive. Very dissappointed!! They stole your money but never give you a room to live! Hope this kind of fake hotel is shut down!!

A warm welcome, simple but clean rooms and centrally located. Our twin room was overlooking the square and we stayed on the Sunday before a bank holiday. It was very noisy at kicking out time and the windows did not dampen the noise of the screeching girls and boy racers. I was also disappointed to find out in the morning that the breakfast needs to be requested on check in. We had to grab some food from the nearby garage.
The double room was immaculate and very comfortable. It was overlooking the town square which was very noisy late into the early hours of the morning with people drinking and shouting outside.
We were so satisfied with the whole stay great room and facilities great food and very friendly staff we would be happy to stay here again and recommend to all our friends
