"Unbelievably great place! My husband and I came to fish from the Pez Vela Marina, and Mar y Sombra was the perfect location to stay! The view was beautiful from up on the hill - you can see the marina and the beach and watch surfers and others enjoy the water. Every night we got to watch the sunset from our balcony! The Quepos/Manuel Antonio area is pretty small, so it was both close to town and just a few minutes to the nature park and bigger restaurants. Obviously super close to the marina! The jungle around the property is beautiful too. Inside, the space was comfortable, polished, and well-kept. Everything was super clean, the shower was great, the AC was strong, and the mini fridge really kept things cold! My husband even fell asleep in the big, comfortable hammock. Plus, the owner Mary has thick, room darkening curtains on all the windows and doors, so if you don’t want to wake up when the sun rises at 5am, you don’t have to 😊 You can tell Mary really takes good care of her property! She was also available to answer any questions and even arranged to get our laundry done by someone. We absolutely loved our stay at Mar y Sombra and will stay here again the next time we fish in the area. Thank you, Mary!!!"

"Our stay at La Mariposa Hotel in Manuel Antonio was phenomenal and, so far, our favourite stay in Costa Rica! The views throughout the property were incredible, and the entire experience was wonderful from start to finish. The staff at the front desk were welcoming and helpful, and the service throughout our stay was excellent. The pools were clean and well-maintained, and the breakfast was fantastic, with plenty of options for everyone in the family. We were lucky enough to see the resident sloth a couple of times, and squirrel monkeys also passed by during our stay. These wildlife encounters made the experience even more special. Between the beautiful views, excellent service, great breakfast, lovely pools, and wildlife, La Mariposa made our stay truly memorable. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Manuel Antonio!"

Tico Tico Villas Adult Only

"Tico Tico was the ideal place for our two-week stay while we attended Spanish School in Quepos. We stayed in villa #12 which was exactly as shown in the photos. It was spacious, clean, and had a great open, modern aesthetic. And A/C!!! Having the kitchen was fantastic. We used the stove every day to cook eggs for breakfasts, and when we didn't want to eat out for lunch and dinner, we made sandwiches and salads. They even provided a hot water kettle so we could make coffee and tea. The location was perfect--5 minutes on the bus to Quepos in one direction and 10 minutes to Manuel Antonio in the other. And the bus stops directly in front which was super convenient. The pool was gorgeous and provided a wonderful place to cool off after being out in the heat. And the hammocks on the covered pavilion were a great place to read and study. The staff was friendly, helpful and responsive. The owner even drove us into town one day when we *just* missed the bus and needed to get to class quickly. The ONLY complaint we had was that the road noise could sometimes get loud. The property is located close to the road and the noise from the motor bikes (especially) was annoying when sitting outside in the pavilion or the pool. When indoors, it was not a problem. I normally don't book through a 3rd party, but we got a very good rate through Expedia. It was about $30/day less than booking through Tico Tico directly, which for a two-week stay really added up."

"This is a beautiful open air screened in home way way up the mountains, in the clouds. If you’re looking for an all-inclusive “hoity-toity” resort, this is not for you. This is for those of us who love nature and the outdoors, and the chance to drive up the side of a rocky mountain road to reach it. Both sunrise and sunset are phenomenal here, with the birds, singing, and the rain falling softly. It is a perfect escape.The home is spacious and well maintained. The kitchen was easy to cook in and had plenty of pots, pans plates, etc. There was lots of room for our group of young people to spread out, play games, or have some quiet time.The beds were comfortable, and with the fans on we even got cold in the evenings.Deborah was the epitome of a perfect host, and combined with help from Jose, who took us on a horse ride to the waterfall, we felt extremely well cared for.We had exactly the experience we hoped for enjoying nature and everything that the beautiful mountain forest of Costa Rica have to offer."
