From the moment we arrived, Gemma ( the owner) couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome and at home! She told us all the best places to visit, eat etc and was only ever a call/message away. She speaks great English and French too. We were welcomed with a refreshing drink too. Our room was pretty, clean and had everything we needed to be comfortable, including a kettle an tea-making facilities. Although in central Naples, the B&B is very calm and quiet and a lovely refuge from the noise and bustle of the city! Breakfast was included and again, Gemma was always there to ensure everyone had what they needed :-) La Gemma is ideally situated for visiting everything of interest in Naples! It's a 10 minute walk from the Cathedral, seconds away from the "Centro Storico" and a 15 minute walk from the Piazza Plebiscito and the sea-front. There is a metro station on the square "Dante" so main transport links and the airport are also easy to reach. We would wholeheartedly recommend La Gemma for couples or individuals wanting a "home from home" in Naples! Thanks again, Gemma, we had a lovely stay! :-)

Ideal B and B in the heart of the city
Well-situated b and b in central Naples,walking distance of all major sights and right next to Dante metro. Host Gemma is very helpful ,knowledgeable,and communicative ensuring a very pleasant stay eg supplying us with a cool box to use in the room. The room is quiet with efficient double glazing and kept dark for sleeping with roller shutters in the velux windows which act as blackouts. The bathroom is a good size with all usual amenities, the shower strength we had though was just about adequate. Breakfast foods and drink are pre-ordered for a time you state, all very tasty and continental. We especially liked the homemade cake and yoghurt. A very welcome addition to the room was a kettle with dfferent sorts of teas (not coffee) provided. All black, no milk, standard for Italy !

I had a wonderful stay at La Gemma. It felt rather magical passing through the big wooden door, through the courtyard and up to the rooftop, and to be greeted by Gemma to her lovely B & B. I appreciated Gemma's tips and recommendations, and her availability!

It is in a great position, on Piazza Dante, and in a grand old building. Gemma was extremely welcoming and sociable, and full of useful tips on places to go and places to eat. The room was delightful and comfortable. Nice breakfast. There are about 130 stairs to climb, mainly old stone ones, unless you use the lift. This needs a 20c piece until 7 pm. It is a pity that you can't really use the terrace, because of neighbours. But overall an excellent choice.

Gemma was a fab host. She spent time explaining the layout of the city and areas to visit. She gave a map and a suggested itinerary etc. Everything was very clean and comfortable. We would stay again

A Great Place to Stay in Naples
I highly recommend this hotel on all counts. The owner Gemma is a native of Naples, exceptionally friendly and helpful in providing information about all aspects of the city. My room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was homemade by Gemma. The hotel is centrally located and the rates are very reasonable.

Lovely stay at La Gemma
My girlfriend and I had a really lovely stay at La Gemma. Gemma was very responsive to messages and gave us clear directions on how to get there - the B&B is located in a very central location in Naples, close to the main areas. When we arrived she provided a lot of helpful tips about where to visit, and then we filled out our own form to state what we'd like for breakfast. The room itself was fantastic for the price, and the breakfast the next morning was delicious! Thanks Gemma for hosting us, we had a wonderful time.

Can recommend!
La Gemma is ideally located near the Dane Metro station and with the entire Centro Storico at walking distance. The reception is particularly friendly and breakfast offers an array of local homemade specialties. The rooms are very clean and well-kept.

La Gemma is a fab little B & B nestled on a rooftop with views over the city. Gemma was a very helpful and accommodating hostess, nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean and comfortable with everything we needed, breakfast was varied and fresh. Central location within walking distance of the seafront and main areas of the city. Would highly recommend.

Jemma, of La Jemma fame, immediately made us feel special and welcome. The room was bright and clean, and the balcony had some nice views. But back to Jemma, my wife and I requested transportation from the hotel to Positano. While waiting for the car a older man approached waving at us saying, “La Jemma, La Jemma” so we mistakenly went with him to his cab. Once in the cab he attempted to shake us down for more money. After a heated argument, he agreed on the fare the hotel quoted us. It all seemed very suspicious, but we got to Positano. The next morning I checked my messages to find several messages checking if we were indeed OK. The cab driver it seems hijacked our fare and when the proper car showed up and we were gone, Jemma attempted to call back the taxi, and having no success contacted our Positano hotel to check on our safety. That’s going the extra mile.

We both were victims of this dishonest taxi driver who stole You from the private driver that I booked for You. We need to say that, of course, not all the taxi drivers are unfair! In this specific case I got very worried for You not knowing whether he was taking You to Positano anyway or leaving You somewhere unknown. That's why I wrote You several e-mails and called many times to Your in Positano to talk to You and make sure that You were fine. Everything went good in the end and I'm so glad that Your stay at my place was pleasant though short. I hope to see You again in the future for more days and with no taxi drivers! Gemma is a delight!
Gemma was a delightful host and we enjoyed staying at her comfortable B&B. We only wish that she would have discouraged us from taking the train to Pompeii. The guidebooks mentioned pickpockets, but she thought it would be okay. Sadly one of us had our cell phone stolen from a pants pocket while on the train. We might have arranged other transportation if she had advised us. Also, while walking in the evening in the Spanish quarter a scooter of 2 boys swooped up and stole the necklace off our friend's neck. I realize that these incidents don't reflect at all on our stay at La Gemma, but sadly our group of 4 would prefer to skip Naples on our next visit. If you do decide to stay in Naples, La Gemma is in a great location, near the subway and walking distance to many great sights, including the archaeological museum. Gemma's breakfast were delightful, rooms were clean and comfortable, and she was absolutely excellent. I am only sorry that our stay was tainted by 2 difficult incidents.

welcoming stay in prime location
My husband and I stayed with Gemma for three nights and her place was everything we needed in Naples. It was in a prime location -- right on top of a subway stop, a seven-minute walk to the Archeology Museum (highly recommend, especially if you've gone to Pompei), and super close to restaurants (it's basically on the pizza street). Our room was cozy and clean. We had a little table with chairs and tea supplies. The bed was also comfortable, and the air conditioning and electronic blinds worked great. This was the first place where I was actually able to sleep through the night during our vacation (I'm not a good sleeper in new places so this is remarkable). The best part of our stay though was Gemma. She is absolutely welcoming and really helpful. She helped us think through our short stay in Naples, printed out train and bus schedules to get to the Amalfi Coast, and gave us suggestions on where to eat and where to visit. She also is a fantastic baker (she served us two types of homemade cakes for breakfast) and even makes her own yogurt, which we also had for breakfast. The building is a little strange though. Gemma's place is on the top floor of the building. You can take the rickety elevator almost all the way to the top, then walk up one last flight of stairs. Totally not a problem for us, but if you have lots of heavy luggage it might be tough. We'd definitely stay with Gemma again if we're back in Naples.

Wonderful Host
We had a wonderful stay with La Gemma B&B. The host, Gemma, is very friendly, hospitable and helpful! She gave us excellent suggestions for exploring Naples during our very brief one day visit. The location of the B&B was very convent! It is a short walk to a historical street with many excellent pizzerias and patisseries as well as another street with many shops and restaurants! We would stay with Gemma again... hopefully longer next time! Gemma even went out of her way to help us with travel reservations after the ferry company canceled our outgoing ferry! Her help was valuable in navigating the Websites all of which were in Italian.

Home away from home
It was an amazing stay. The rooms were very comfortable. Gemma has experience working at a 5 star hotel, and she brings her attention to detail and her personal touch to the B&B. She was very helpful, she gave us tips on where to go, how to get around Naples, amalfi coast and Pompeii. The B&B is centrally located. Also the metro station is 100metres away, that connects you to the naples central station as well as the port area. The breakfast served each morning is wonderful. The property is a terrace property, so you have to be mentally prepared to walk 2 flights of stairs. Once you arrive at the B&B, it's all worth it. It was truly a home away from home experience.

Gemma was really efficent, friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, comfortable, quiet and spacious. Gemma advised us where to eat and drink for our one night stay returning from the amalfi coast - we had a great time and will return to explore what is a friendly and interesting city. Great value and location - huge selection of bars and restaurants.

Lovely stay
We had a lovely stay at La Gemma B&B. It is situated in a rooftop suite on the Piazza Dante. Naples is a very lively city and as soon as you step through the front doors of the building your day starts to quiet down. After an elevator ride and a flight of stairs, you get to the rooftop suite and are immediately engulfed in Gemma's kind and gracious hospitality. The room we had was lovingly decorated, well appointed, clean and comfortable. In the morning Gemma provides a fine breakfast which included delicious homemade yogurt and pound cake along with standard fare. We enjoyed meeting Gemma and Fabio and staying in their well located B & B.

De B&B is handig geplaatst in het centrum, openbaar vervoer en horeca binnen handbereik. Gemma communiceert uitstekend en is zeer responsief! Je weet zeker dat iemand je opwacht met een warm onthaal!

Mycket bra boende...
La Gemma ligger central med gångavstånd till allt. Vi kom med tåg till Neapel och från tågstationen tog vi tunnelbanan till Dante tunnelbanestation som ligger mindre än 100 m i från La Gemma. Boendet och frukost var mycket bra. Gemma var mycket trevlig och tillmötesgående med att peka ut både restauranger och sevärdheter. Boendet kan varmt rekommenderas.

An oasis in Naples
La Gemma is an oasis on the top of the Dante building in the middle of the best parts of Napels. Great service and comfort. Gemma was really helpful even before our stay, arranging car service to and from the Amalfi coast. Highly recommended!

La location direttamente in centro e ben collegata con i mezzi pubblici. Le camere sono curata nei minimi dettagli e molto pulite. Da non dimenticare la gentilezza e cortesia di Gemma!

Une petite semaine à Napoli chez Gemma, très agréable. Le B&B est tenu par Gemma d’une façon remarquable. L’emplacement dans le centre historique est très appréciable. Le petit déjeuner est parfait pour affronter la fatigue due aux nombreuses visites de la ville de Napoli. Et les recommandations de Gemma pour les endroits où se restaurer et également culturelles sont précieux.

Nous sommes ravis de la semaine passée chez Gemma, qui est une personne très avenante, toujours souriante et à notre écoute. Ce B&B est très bien situé dans le quartier historique de Naples, très animé, beaucoup de restaurants et commerces. Notre chambre était confortable, toujours propre à nos retours de visite, bon petit déjeuner " à la française " avec des gâteaux faits maison. Merci pour votre accueil.
