Newby with Mulwith Holidays

Nice Hotel with lots of parking, but if arriving late may have to park on street. Hotel only 4 min walk downhill to the city center, very handy. Building could be doing with some TLC, management do agree, notices saying bare with them its a work in progress. Building has so much character and beautiful stained glass windows. Staff, great, very approachable and helpful. Singer entertainer and Disco at weekend. Breakfast usual cereals, yoghurt, fruit juice, fruit, toast. Also served cooked buffet. All very tasty. Good value, for being so close to town.

We chose not to have breakfast but the choice seemed good and the dining area is in a lovely setting. My only gripes would be that there was no fridge or water in our room and I could not speak to a receptionist, having to leave a message instead the day before we arrived, which was not responded to. Overall cleanliness was good.

Definitely not a 4 star hotel. Positives - hotel is very central, room was large and clean, bathroom was large and had shower gel etc Negatives - hotel is very dated, public spaces were not clean, carpets in hallways not hoovered, windows in bathroom had mould, lift only goes to 2nd floor. Unfortunately there was a fire alarm at 0430 which can’t be helped. However, no staff to be seen. Fire alarm was intermittent, stopping in one part of the building completely. Did not eat in the hotel so cannot comment on food. Overall, we were very disappointed especially as we had paid £130 for an overnight stay. Currently in Dakota in Leeds which was £20 more and it is stunning. Would not recommend Studley.
