Beautiful interesting cottage
Rising Sun is a wonderful cosy cottage surrounded by luscious gardens. Cycling and walking straight from this house which has a lovely feel. Front two larger bedrooms are so pretty and the dual aspect double is spectacular both within and with its outlook

Rising Sun
A roomy house, beautifully decorated and furnished for a homely feel. Garden is a nice sun trap and even provide reclining garden chairs. Great walks from the property and all around the coastal paths.

Lovingly Restored Cottage
A fantastic old property that has been lovingly restored by it's owners. Old sits alongside new seamlessly. Everything is as described and most things are beyond perfect. I have no hesitation in recommending this property and is very suitable for young families.

Lovely place to stay
We had a lovely stay here, the cottage is great for a family with children. The younger children enjoyed playing in the garden, and it was safely fenced for the dog to enjoy. There’s a lot to do in the local area, the useful information in the cottage helped us to plan our days and we couldn’t fit in all the things we wanted to do in one week. Can’t wait to return.

A warm Welsh experience
Delightful semi rural setting but within walking reach of town and shops. Beautiful views and comfortable quite spacious rooms. Well supplied for cooking etc Adjoining road narrow and busier than expected but NOT noisy.Lovely restful rear gardens. We’ll definitely look to book again

Home from Home
The house is lovely - it's spacious and yet cosy at the same time. It is fully equipped with everything we needed for four of us to eat, sleep and be merry. The woodburners provided a cosy feel, while the heating was remarkably efficient. The views front and back are glorious - Newport beach and the Nevern estuary to the front and Mynydd Carningli to the back. Bob was a warm and friendly host - he was so helpful before and during our stay, without ever being intrusive. We would love to come back soon.

House is very tired. Standard of cleanliness not good. Shower curtain needs replacing. Parking a nightmare with car needing to be parked on very narrow lane. Rather steep steps to front of house some folk would struggle with

Lovely property, location and host.
We spent a week at the property and thoroughly enjoyed it. The house has an interesting history and has been lovingly renovated into what is now a comfortable and spacious property. We loved the garden and the walks straight from the back gate. Bob was a very accommodating host and responded very quickly to queries. Highly recommend.

Had an enjoyable stay despite the weather. The cottage had all the facilities that we needed. The garden was lovely but couldn’t enjoy it as much as we would have liked. Great views from the property. A good base to visit the local beaches, towns, walks. & attractions.

Family holiday house

Good to be back!
A very high standard of cleanliness at the property and all your needs catered for. Comfortable beds and sofa's and good sized rooms. A beautiful house with very relaxing energy and great views from every window. Draw's us back every year!

Welcoming home in the hills
The Rising Sun is a warm welcoming and beautiful place to stay set between the sea and sky. We loved our time there and while we explored all the local beaches and coves we really liked returning home to the joy that is Rising Sun .

Another lovely holiday at this wonderful cottage.
We had another brilliant holiday at the cottage. The cottage is so cosy and comfortable and has everything you need. The location is stunning with beautiful views and walks from the doorstep. Newport is a lovely town with so many nice places to visit nearby. The kids particularly enjoyed crabbing at the Parrog. The owners are on hand if you need any help with anything. Highly recommended!

Comfortable cottage, beautiful garden + a mountain
It is a lovely, well looked after, well stocked property with a spacious layout. 3/4 bedrooms look onto the Nevern estuary, 1 - into a beautiful garden. Very well stocked (nice sharp knives - normally a big problem with rented accommodation, kitchen equipment, very good WiFi). Very clean. Especially important in these Covid-19 times. Felt very safe. Our kids loved the very large window sills - a perfect place to sit with a book/tablet. An easy walk to Newport, which we've done a few times. A gate in the back garden leads to a mountain right behind the property. Makes for an excellent walk with fabulous views. There is a parking space right outside the property, but it is really a street parking and, while always available, it was a bit of a squeeze to get in/out of the driver's door. But it's a minor. Communications with the owners were excellent. Bob was very helpful and quick to reply. We'll happily come back again. A wonderful place.

Relaxing stay
The Rising Sun has a lovely, relaxed feel which we felt the moment we walked through the door. We were surprised at how spacious it was, the photos don’t do it justice. We loved the well equipped kitchen, great oven and everything we needed to hand. The property is very cosy and on cooler nights, having the wood burner lit was lovely. The garden is just beautiful, so colourful and again, larger then we’d been led to believe. Loved sitting in the sun, when it shone! We love Newport and come every year, so The Rising Sun is a new find for us and we’d definitely return.

Comfortable place
Expensively refurbished cottage which feels more like someone's home than the usual holiday house. Comfortable sofas and beds and good wifi. Good heating and very beautiful cooker if you like to spend your holiday in the kitchen. Shower needs considerable agility but we did know from the details what it was like before we got there so can't complain! Nice garden with lovely apple trees. Would stay there again.

Magical house and location
Wonderful house and garden in a gorgeous location at the foot of Carn Ingli but also just a short walk from lovely Newport. Well equipped not just with the necessaries but lots of extras that are useful around the house (eg a handmixer for baking) or out and about (eg beach stuff, maps, books etc) or are just interesting or beautiful (or both). Thanks for a lovely stay

Fantastic cottage a short walk from Newport village. Stunning views and very well-appointed cottage - the owners have thought of everything right down to firewood. As two families renting together, we had a great week; the children particularly enjoyed the garden.

So glad you enjoyed your week, Lisa. I always think the garden is a fun space (although I need to catch up with the weeding), so I’m glad the kids enjoyed it. Stocking up both Rising Sun and my own place with firewood keeps me and the chainsaw busy!!

Lovely Rising Sun
We enjoyed our second stay as much as our first! Despite weather being wet, dramatic and stormy most days, we tucked ourselves in to this warm and beautiful house.after wet walks and trips out. The house is so solid and comfy that the weather didn't really matter; we cooked in the well equipped kitchen, lit log fires in one of the stoves, and relaxed on sofas. And the kitchen table is perfect for playing card games and evening meals. This trip we discovered the stone henge bluestone quarry at Craig Rhosyfelin, wandered on the beach with the dogs and found a wonderful art gallery at Fishguard. Somehow as a house, Rising Sun seems to have a personality of its own! Friendly, caring and loving. Thank you Bob and Ceri X

Beautiful cottage, views and location
Perfect location on the edge of Newport, with lovely walks up carn ingli from the back garden. The views are absolutely stunning. Very comfortable cottage with lovely garden. Easy walk to town and parrog beach. Pembrokeshire (and Ceredigion) is beautiful and this is a fantastic base to explore from. Highly recommended, this our second visit!

Home from home.
The minute we walked in the door, we felt at home here. The energy of the house is so warm and welcoming and all our needs were catered for, from wifi to washing machine and even garden loungers. A magical garden with a back gate taking you straight up to CarnIngli. So well situated with beautiful views of the coastline too. It was hard to leave, so wished we had booked a fortnight. Will be taking our holidays here again next year. Thank you Bob and Ceri for sharing your beautiful home.

Beautiful cottage, fantastic location.
Really lovely cottage which is beautifully furnished and presented. The owners have thought of everything. An easy walk to Newport which is a great little town. Loads of fab places to visit nearby and wonderful beaches.

Great location, beautiful cottage .
Loved everything about this cottage, really pretty with beautiful gardens and a great view over the bay. Stayed with family and found it very comfortable with a well equipped kitchen and large table so we could all sit together at meal times. Lots of lovely walks and beaches and Newport town is very pretty with places to eat and drink. Weather wasn't too kind but because we had somewhere lovely to go back to it didn't matter. Thanks we had a great family holiday.

Beautiful house and stunning views
From the moment we walked in to Rising Sun we felt at home. The house is beautifully decorated and maintained, with extra touches for convenience eg kitchen very well stocked with pans and bit and pieces. Large rooms for eating and relaxing and a very well kept garden, with pond, various lawns, trees, shrubs and flowers. We so enjoyed sitting on the stone patio and looking at the view! Watching the sun go down from the garden and come up over the hills was one of the highlights of the stay. The house is within walking distance to Newport for anyone with average fitness. Definitely the loveliest holiday house we'd all stayed in, almost too nice to go and explore the local area!

Wonderfully comfortable and well appointed cottage.
From the moment we walked in the door it was lovely.There was plenty of room for all of us. The garden is delightful and for a 6 year old it was heaven with lots of places to explore. The beds were very comfortable, with plenty of stage space in the bedrooms. Beautiful view from the front bedrooms. There wasn't anything that we said that we wished we'd brought from home as it was all there, full bookcase, DVDs & loads of games for all to play. In the outside shed were a whole range of outdoor toys and equipment for us to borrow too. All in all, with the weather as a friend, it was a fantastic holiday week for all 3 generations. Thank you.

Haus mit Potential
Man fühlt sich in diesem Haus wie ein Waliser in einem Cottage. Der Garten war sehr schön, wild und malerisch. Wir haben ihn sehr genossen. Von einem Zimmer und vom Gartentürchen aus konnte man das Meer in der Ferne sehen. Wir hatten zwar keinen Hund dabei, aber offensichtlich wird das Haus gerne von Hundebesitzern gebucht. Die Ausstattung der Küche ist umfangreich (tolle Kochtöpfe!!, toller Herd, sehr sauberer Kühlschrank), die Möbel sind allerdings z.T. schon sehr in die Jahre gekommen. Das Bad war extravagant und relativ neu.
