"Possibly because it was for Sunday & Monday nights, our 2-night stay was exceptional value. Very comfortable dormer-style room across the courtyard from the main castle (glad we missed last week's mini-heatwave or it would have been hot - although there was a big fan provided). Excellent breakfasts with interesting choices as well as full English. Friendly and efficient staff. We didn't eat in the main restaurant this time but we know it's good; we just didn't feel our appetites could do it justice and it is quite expensive - good for a celebration meal though. We ate in town Sunday night then in the hotel bar on Monday - the steak pie, mash & tenderstem broccoli was excellent."

"We chose the hotel at random, knowing it was central and had on site parking. In fact it was the perfect choice for exploring the city. Close to all the historic sites, and easy walking to restaurants and pubs. The staff were very friendly and efficient - which made the stay even better."
