Staff were friendly and helpful but I was unfortunately a bit disappointed by the hotel itself. Rooms just seemed a touch ‘cheap’. Lots of hard surfaces in boring grey tones. The building is connected to a Travelodge and it almost seemed like a spruced up version of that. Breakfast was also disappointing with what tasted like rather low quality ingredients.

The room was excellent, bed was so comfortable that we slept in on our 1st night, leaving only 1 and a half hours to get ready for a wedding we were going to. The bathroom was lovely, a large shower with rainfall head. Very deep bath that we used on 2nd day. A great menu and restaurants to choose from. The bar was so welcoming with a great whiskey selection for myself and cocktail selection my partner loved. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Our stay Matfen Hall was excellent and I highly recommend. We didn’t use the spa facilities this time but definitely will on our return. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay a pleasure

Very clean but slightly tired room. All staff excellent. Great cooked to order breakfast as well as great lunch and great dinner - you can tell that quality ingredients are used and prepared/cooked by competent chef and team. Bar adequately stocked and reasonable prices for hotel. Overall good value ...
