9.2/10 Wonderful! (1,004 reviews)
Stayed at the Hyatt a couple of times previously. The location, the rooms, the mini bar amenities, the champagne welcome are all difficult to beat. What was disappointing on this occasion was the Writers Room Rooftop Bar. Met at the front by a frosty receptionist who asked if we had a reservation. Made us wait outside for 5 minutes while they checked if there was a table. Went inside and the place was barely even full on a Sunday. Seating at the bar and empty tables in and out. The service was very slow. My glass of wine showed up and my friend had to wait fifteen minutes for her cocktail, despite multiple requests. All we had was a lady repeatedly apologizing and a male server saying it was in God’s hands. We subsequently moved to the bar hoping for a quicker response, only to be received by an extremely exasperated bartender at the end of his shift. A curt and rude “do you want anything?” followed. I’ve been there many times and never experienced this level of service. Again, the hotel itself is impeccable but that did dull the experience.

"Nice lobby and places to eat within the hotel and great location! The rooms are outdated, mid lighting and not impressed with the bathroom. The shower took 10 min to drain which gave me and ick. My friends were staying on floor 11 and they had the same issue. If you don’t care about the room/bathroom ..."

"The room had used qtips and napkins on the floor. The elevators didn’t work. The room smelled like cigarette smoke and musty. I know it’s an old hotel but my goodness I would not pay more than 80 a night for that room. Horrible. Just horrible. Can I add pics to this?"
