Warm welcome
Staff very helpful and friendly- breakfast was great too. The hotel is welcoming and warm, decor is a little tired, but the rooms have character 😊

I bought this stay for my wife and mother in law. My wife’s room had a leak which wasn’t rectified meaning she couldn’t use the shower. The breakfast wast also poor quality and when mentioned to staff my wife was told “oh really”

Very friendly and attentive staff. Cleanliness is clearly a priority for this hotel. The hotel requires modernising especially in the older part of the property. It's a bit tired in places. The shower in my room was almost a trickle and in need of replacing. Overall I would recommend staying here.

it would be helpful to make clearer the charge for parking. Our vehicle was parked of an evening say 7.00pm - 7.30 am and yet still the full charge made.

Comfortable large room , room cleaned and tidied every day to high standard. Bit of a walk into the town centre….but bus stop just outside the hotel with regular service every 10 minutes or so

Excellent quiet hotel.
Lovely large room for a couple. Quiet small hotel 10mins by bus from York center. Excellent heated indoor pool, often just us. Very friendly staff. Building works at back not any problem. Car parking. Bus stop opposite, buses every 10mins. Excellent full english breakfast. Some rooms above pool so heated making bedroom warm at night.

BW Kilima Review
Hotel on main road, but no traffic noise in room. Twin room very clean and nice but just very hot. Bar and breakfast areas nice. Receptionists very friendly and helpful.

2 night stopover was ok - staff friendly and good breakfast. 3-star rating is about right for the period property and room quality - a bit rough around the edges. Pool/area was clean and warm. Good location for a stroll into town, or as we did one morning walk to the Holgate Windmill and the Cold War Bunker.

Bit worn but nice stay
Was OK - a little old worldy but practical accommodation and well placed. Needs some modernisation but generally well kept. New build happening so imagine improvements coming.

Good hotel
Booked for a weekend stay in York. Had no trouble parking at the back of the property, they had plenty of spaces. The staff was really lovely and welcoming showing us to our room. They have also upgraded our stay which was a nice gesture. The room was spacious but floors and bed were quite squeaky, not that it posed any issue. But the room was clean, a bit outdated but given the price, again it wasn’t an issue. The hotel also had a swimming pool and a bar but we didn’t use those facilities. They have considered a lot of things in the welcome book which was a nice addition. The hotel was 15/20 minute walk from centre which made this a good deal for money

Staff very friendly and place clean. A bit run down and tired. Location very good for old town. Our room very warm as above kitched and vent stack on outside wall, avoid room 17 and all should be well.

Fantastic stay at this lovely hotel. From checking in with the receptionist who was so informative about both hotel facilities and the general areas to visit to our room with 4 poster bed and separate lounge area. Great pool and steam room which we used. Bus stop into York straight across the road from hotel which was handy. Tea and coffee sachets are placed on tables in corridor which is brilliant as you can replenish them as required. Beautiful breakfast served by Gaynor who is a gem, nothing too much trouble and ensures you have everything you need all with a smile. Hotel was very clean and cannot fault our stay and will definitely return here on any future trips to York

A lovely, budget friendly hotel
Only a 15 minute walk from city centre, this hotel was affordable and well-kept. Friendly staff members were knowledgeable and gave lots of suggestions for places to explore. The room was quaint and had everything I need, including a nice shower, TV and lots of mirrors! I was amazed by the beautiful pool and gym, both of which are free of charge (pool slots need to be booked prior to use). I only wish that I could have stayed longer. Thank you so much!
