So sorry that you found the room cold when you visited us. It certainly was a very cold spell and hard to get the heating settings to suit all our guests needs. All our radiators are fitted with thermostatic valves, so customers are able adjust the temperature of their room to their preference. During the colder weather, our boilers are set to turn off at around midnight, and come back on for an hour or so in the early hours, then on again at 5.30pm to warm the place up for guests in the morning. We have a night porter on duty every night - had he been made aware that your room was on cold side, he would have been happy to override the heating settings, or provide you with a supplementary oil-fired radiator. Please just ask next time.

I am so sorry to hear that you have had an uncomfortable night at The Pytchley. The weather has certainly been very changeable - and I would be very surprised if, that over the past couple of weeks, we wouldn’t have been the only hotel that might have been caught out by the unseasonably warm temperatures.On Saturday evening the temperature was in excess of 21 degrees. The average for this time of year is sub-12. Currently our central heating is scheduled to come on for an hour or so early evening to take the chill of four rooms for the benefit of any guests checking in, then is off overnight.I can only apologise that the radiator valve in your original room was faulty. This is now scheduled for prompt repair. As you point out, you were quickly shown to another executive room - the radiator was turned off, and the large windows opened. The new room was an equivalent executive room - a much larger triple room with luxury bathroom, and equipped with a king size bed and single bed (the bed in your first room was in fact a ‘Super-king’ 6’ bed).As a small independent inn, our accommodation varies in size & character. Rooms are all individually decorated but all beds are fitted with memory foam mattress toppers - a recommendation when we achieved our VistEngland four-star accommodation status, and an addition which the vast majority of customers find extremely comfortable. Whilst we are unable to offer air-conditioning, all rooms have opening windows and are equipped with fans. We really do value constructive feedback as the customer experience is key at The Pytchley, but on this occasion I am really unsure what more we could have done to accommodate your personal preferences without impacting the experience for other guests. You were offered a discount on your room as you were inconvenienced and expressed dissatisfaction on check-out with the accommodation offered. You kindly comment that you found the service good, & staff to be very helpful & understanding - you were table checked on your food which you commented was very good. I am saddened therefore that after all this, you still felt compelled to air your thoughts with this very disappointing review - which is out of synch with the other positive reviews we are currently attracting.

I'm sorry that we had a problem the evening with the wifi - it meant your food was delayed, and that you weren't able to benefit from the usual high speeds and service that we do enjoy here (rest assured that our Gigaclear professional wifi service is the best available in the area - and that this was a temporary blip). Yup - our mobile phone signal is very unreliable in West Haddon - they can send photos from Mars, but not connect us with a half decent phone reception in the heart of the Midlands - doesn't make any sense at all!! Delighted to hear that you will be returning again soon.
