We often stay at The Red Lion. The staff are friendly and helpful . The rooms are always clean and the beds comfy . Breakfast is delicious with a lot of choice. It’s good to have the option of having lunch or the evening meal at the hotel.

Excellent location, beautiful village location within driving distance of the Althorp Estate. Well equipped room with free standing bath. Excellent dining choices. Highly recommend the Full English Breakfast. Excellent service from all the staff.

Nice pub stay
Our room was lovely. Nicely decorated and thankfully a fan was provided as it was fairly warm. It was a little small but great for one night. The pub was nice with a great beer garden which looked out onto fields. The food was excellent. The service wasnt poor but could be improved...a smile would be nice and maybe a goodbye and have a safe journey. Other than that it was ideal for a night.

Constructive comments after a lovely stay
Lovely pub atmosphere and friendly staff. Good value for money. A few things that could be improved is to oil the doors upstairs and down so they don’t make a dreadful noise ( mentioned this after last stay but still bad) .Ceiling lights in room corridors need the dead flies removed and please let’s go green and stop using the travel size shampoos etc. Breakfast location much nicer now but would be nice to have some fresh strawberries / raspberries and yogurt on the continental breakfast. Overall a great stay and look forward to returning and I appreciate the staff.

Gorgeous, quiet, delicious
We had the most incredible weekend at The Red Lion. The staff is very friendly and attentive, their restaurant is 10/10, and the rooms are stunning. The village is very quiet and peaceful, with lovely little streets you can walk down on, but you truly won't need to go anywhere as they have everything you need at the hotel. If you can squeeze in a Sunday Roast, take full advantage of it.

Lovely stay - would recommend.
Excellent place. The room was lovely, everything you would expect - comfy bed, fluffy towels, complimentary shampoo/conditioner. Stairs up to the room are narrow and steep so not for anyone who is unable to navigate that. The bath was amazing. In room tv worked well, tea coffee and hot chocolate provided. No fridge in room so only UHT milk, but that was expected. Only negative was that the room was quite cold - the electric heater doesn't pump out much heat and it's a single glazed window. However, for the price it was excellent. Breakfast was a simple continental, nice coffee.

Beautiful room uncomfortable bed
I stayed for 3 nights in the deluxe double room. The room was lovely with a roll top bath in the room. The room was clean but the bottom of the bath has been chipped a lot presumably from the shower head bashing it. This didn't however take away from the experience. However the bed was really uncomfortable. It had a soft top but still managed to be lumpy and I felt like I was falling down a hole. I stayed in the week so it was a continental breakfast which was good. However on the last morning there was no yoghurt which there had been on previous mornings. That wasnt a problem but there was also no butter and I coukdnt find anyone yo ask fir sone. I did however find some in a small fridge under the till. Overall though I enjoyed my stay and these were just small things that I bring up so improvements can be made. I loved the decor throughtout and felt very relaxed.

End of a mini break
We had a 1 night stay. Great little venue, very old and quirky hotel with bags of character, friendly and efficient staff. Nice big room and well laid out bathroom with good shower & nice complimentary toiletries. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and it was very busy, glad we had booked, food was super too. All in all a good end to a short break away from home.

This is a great and affordable place to visit. We arrived early and was greeted by very friendly staff. Inside the buliding is beautiful with interesting memorabila from the past. Peaceful, we had a lovely stroll around the village and visited the church. The food is fantastic and the Beer is yummy. A Must See and stay. A special thanks to Tristan what a wonderful fella.

What a gem! Staff, bar, restaurant- everything ! - was fabulous. The only advice: there is no lift and the stairs are exceedingly steep so that could pose an issue for some folks.

A beautiful room, with quirky features and a roll top bath within the bedroom - really lovely. But the bed was a little too soft and maybe needs a new mattress, and though the bath was beautiful, it couldn’t be used as there was no plug!

Overall a lovely stay in a beautiful building in a great location. As professional in the hospitality Buisness I would like to draw a few things to your attention to make it even better. I had filled out online that I expected to arrive at 2 pm and was told on arrival that she would have to see if the room was ready and then left me standing in the bar. I have to say it was a very nice welcome and felt for like an inconvenience rather than a guest. Even though I was struggling with my luggage the member of staff didn’t offer to help me to the room and just said upstairs to the left. First thing I notice that every door upstairs as it opened sounded like the haunted house and squeaked as it open and closed. This was the sound I heard constantly and I just wondered as it was so many doors why no one had oiled them as part of regular maintenance. The room was nice except a lot of chipped furniture and as it was all painted would have taken much just to touch it up. Breakfast starting at 8 am is a bit late and would think alot of people would be happier at 7.30. Sweet croissants seemed a strange rather sickly offering and the ham and processed cheese not very attractive ( other guests commented) No one came to offer drinks so after finishing my cereal went off in search of a cuppa - other guests had to do the same. A simple wireless buzzer to call for help on the Buffett would have been very helpful.

So on arrival we paid cash for our room for 2 nights, unfortunately this is where it started to go wrong. I had overpaid by £20 and very disappointed that nothing was said ! I found the hole experience disappointing. Basically run by children with a child’s outlook.

I had bedroom 1 at the top of the pub (the top window in the photo). Character- fabulous beams and freestanding bath. Enthusiastic staff. Great top-end pub food. Pork bites and mussels! Real ale. Convenient for Northampton. Sheep in the field at the back.

Village Inn
Nice pub/restuarant in a village setting. On site parking and quiet location. The restaurant was busy and obviously popular with locals which is always a good sign. Breakfast was a continental buffet with freshly baked pastries. My only wish was for breakfast to start earlier as an 8am start is too late for me when I am working.
