If the tides allow, it’s a lovely stroll along the sands to neighbouring Sheringham, 10 miles from your doorstep. Head inland instead and you can stock up on supplies in Aylsham or take a ride on the Bure Valley Railway to Wroxham (16 miles), at the heart of the Norfolk Broads. Just outside Aylsham, Great Wood at the National Trust’s Blickling Hall (6 miles) is the location of Norfolk’s very own pyramid.
