Only gave 4 stars due to shower being within bath area. Not easy for unsteady guests to get in or out of bath! Everything else was great! A warm and cosy stay was had!

Upon arrival, we entered the property to a strong musty damp smell. We opened all windows/doors to ventilate, and put it down to the property perhaps not being used the previous week. The property appeared clean and the host soon arrived to make sure we understood the (basic) amenities provided at the cottage, and explained they had had to make considerable updates to the property. During the week we could not get rid of the smell. On the final night it was extremely hot and were unable to sleep, just laying in bed. I felt something tickle my back and jumped up to find a small brown bed bug on the sheets. To say I felt unclean would be an understatement! and it certainly explained the blood marks on the sheets and spots I had noticed on my back. We stripped the bed and could not find any more. Unfortunately there was nothing left of the bug to photograph after I had finished with it! Luckily we were leaving the next day and managed to get some sleep. On checking all the cupboards we found the source of the damp smell. We had noticed it was stronger when we had used the kitchen sink, and when checking the kitchen cupboards, we found damp and mould in the one under the sink, so clearly there is an active leak. This can cause serious illness in someone like my wife who has asthma/COPD. I would have expected Hoseasons to have made regular checks on their properties - clearly not. Needless to say we will not return !
