Nestled in the heart of the Norfolk Broads National Park, River Bay is a brand-new lodge, completed in November 2022, offering a tranquil waterside escape. This detached lodge is uniquely positioned on the water’s edge, within the owners’ private marina, seamlessly connected to the River Yare.
Brundall, a charming village and the centre for boat building and boat hire serves as the perfect backdrop for your retreat. Brundall boasts a railway station, a shop/post office, a mini-market, a hairdresser, a convenient takeaway, a fish and chip shop, a fine dining restaurant, and welcoming local pubs—all a stone’s throw away.
River Bay is an ideal base for relaxation, where a well-kept lawn slopes gently down to the water’s edge, offering enchanting views over the private river basin. For those with a passion for fishing, the season brings opportunities (with a requisite fishing license), the property also benefits from its own fishing bait fridge. Bring your own boat (use of our own slipway, by prior arrangement) and moor directly outside of your lodge or hire a boat or paddleboards locally and adventure out into The Broads. This location is an excellent launch point for exploring the Norfolk Broads, coast and countryside, with easy access to Great Yarmouth (by rail or car), seaside towns and villages like Gorleston-on-Sea, Hemsby, Caister-on-Sea, and Newport, as well as the beautiful Broadland villages, picturesque countryside, and Norfolk’s sandy beaches. The fine city of Norwich, just 8 miles away, is accessible by train and boasts excellent shopping, theatres, restaurants, and cultural attractions.
Family-friendly activities are within reach at Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens, Strumpsham with its steam museum and rally, Strumpshaw Fen RSPB, Pettitts Animal Adventure Park in Reedham, BeWilderwood and the exhilarating Pleasurewood Hills nearby. Whether you’re seeking an active adventure or a leisurely escape, River Bay welcomes you with open arms all year round.
