Great hotel in the middle of Oberammergau. My only concern was the restaurant. Only 1 of 3 menus we were given had an insert with Oktoberfest specials. Our waiter didn’t understand English well enough to understand we were asking for a dark beer. We said dunkel but got lighter beer.

Should be better considering the price Of the hotel. Can’t get help when I asked the front desk personnel about city tours, transportation in the area & to get us a cab to go to the airport. We ate at their restaurant 4x & the menu is the same.

Room view was horrible and hotel guests very loud. Guests outside loud until 12 midnight and then restarting again 630am.

Traditional guest house with friendly staff
We loved this hotel, run by a family who have owned it for generations, it is a traditional old guest house with spacious comfortable rooms and an excellent breakfast. Staff were also very helpful.

Nice staff, great location, fabulous breakfast. The rooms in the original building have knotty pine walls-what you would expect from the look of the exterior of the hotel. The rooms in the back addition are not so nice - view overlooking parking lot, split level, narrow staircase up to loft-type bedroom, bathroom downstairs, ordinary decor. Newer rooms in addition attached to the original building have the same split level layout but ours had two bathrooms - one on each floor. The breakfast really was the best part of our stay.

Lovely Oberammergau
Again this is not our first time here and the reason is because they are centrally located, rooms are very nicely decorated and comfortable and the meals out of this world, just can't ask for anything better. Staff is also very knowledge and friendly. And the village people are super friendly

Time to reevaluate
This was not my first time here and I was a bit uncomfortable this time by the amount of pets that were here. The animals eating from the tables in the cafe and around the breakfast bar made it feel unsanitary. Perhaps it is time to reevaluate my staying arrangements.

Beautiful Memories
From the perfect location to the charming hotel exterior, we were eagerly anticipating our visit to Oberammergau and the Alte Post Hotel. The car was parked in the convenient lot directly behind the hotel property and we were quickly and graciously checked in for our stay. Our room and bath were large, immaculately clean and comfortable with a sweet little balcony. Breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed a couple of dinners at the hotel. The first evening our waitress was friendly but the second evening, our waiter was inept and very unfriendly. He practically reached over my dinner with his sleeve in my food. That is my only complaint and we did not take it further with the staff since it was fairly minor. I would definitely go back for another visit to this lovely hotel.

An excellent hotel. Well situated within the heart of the town. The staff speak English and the food was delicious. The rooms are clean and cozy and the old wood décor is unique. Highly recommend it. Food prices are a tad expensive, but worth it. There is a 2 euro charge per night per guest that is not cover in the expedia reservation.

The hotel is charming on the outside, but the guest rooms are only average in comfort. The fold-out bed was not comfortable at all. The breakfast was very good. The dinner in the restaurant was only so-so, and very expensive.

Great last-minute choice
We booked a room the same day as our stay after learning we had made an error in our original booking for another hotel. That was a fortunate mistake - we went from interacting with a rude staff person at the other hotel to professional and friendly staff at Alte Post. We appreciated the free parking and spacious room with a small balcony. The bathroom was clean and updated and even had an “American-style” electrical outlet. Overall the room was slightly dated but still very comfortable. The free breakfast buffett is fabulous - I would come back here again just for that. After arriving I was panicking about having left our outlet adapter at the previous hotel and needing one for the rest of our trip in rural Germany and Austria, and was able to buy one from the Alte Post front desk.

Hotel is ok but a little quirky. I was surprised how hot the room was even though it was cool at night. No AC and even with windows open and fan running it didn't cool down as much as I expected. Ok place but I'll stay somewhere else for our next visit.

Hotel inside a ski resort town.
This is hotel is situated inside a ski resort town which is very nice and unique. Many small gift shops along the road, lots of nice food. Breakfast was good.
