AC Hotel by Marriott Portsmouth

"The hotel is nice and the staff are helpful. Two things stop me from giving it a five-star review. First, the breakfast is pretty bad. The egg options in the buffet are unappetizing (Spanish egg tarts) and the scrambled eggs I ordered from the kitchen were worse -- actually inedible. There was no oatmeal or other common breakfast options. I had a hard time finding enough to eat. The $22 charge was not worth it. Second, the location is odd, on a strange little street surrounded by small office buildings and construction sites and with limited parking. (Your choice is valet parking, with what seemed to be a bit of a wait to retrieve your car, or street parking in the neighborhood. We got lucky with street parking. ). It is actually an easy walk to the picturesque, historic district of Portsmouth but when you first arrive at the hotel you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere."

"Pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Very clean, modern and convenient to town. Only complaints were the price of parking. After the first night I parked in the garage next door to save $5/night. Breakfast quality could be raised a bit. For instance, all the juices were VERY watered down, to the point of being undrinkable."

"Un séjour parfait avec ma conjointe. L’hôtel est très propre et très bien situé. Le déjeuné et le staff très agréable. Nous avons été un peu surpris par le stationnement, nous pensions nous stationner à l’ancienne fonderie mais avec le prix qui avait augmenter le 1 er juillet c’était devenu plus avantageux avec le valet!"

"Loved the hotel. The bar was inadequate. The bartender did not have available basic ingredients for martinis or manhattan. No fresh garnishes. Pre-made cocktails were unfortunately the go to at the bar. The property itself had a lot of character."

"I stay here with my granddaughters 7 & 10 when visiting family. It makes our time together easy. Pool is great. Never crowded. Breakfast is convenient. Also the dining area can be used to sit and eat other times of the day. Grocery store within walking distance."

"The Bow is in a great location, easy to walk to many restaurants and shops. Parking was easy across the street but an additional $35/night. Our gallery king room had a comfortable bed but no additional chair to sit. The bathroom was clean and modern but very small. View was of building windows across the way. Fine spot for one night in charming town."

"We stayed in apartment number 5 and had a great view of the water and perfect breeze. Everything was very clean the snacks and drinks were nice to have in a pinch! Make sure to get breakfast at the Islander cafe!"

"This room could not have been any more cuter! Retro 50s/60s vibe but in such a cool way - not a single tacky thing. Everything was as promised. The bed was super comfortable, the bathroom was perfect, and it was all clean. The pool was heaven on earth. Self check-in and out was easy breezy. I can't wait to go back!"
