"Had such high expectations, none met. The room is very tiny. Bathroom door at foot of bed, no fan. When the faucet or shower was turned on in any nearby room, it was loud as though it was coming from my bathroom. Very loud pipes. No bathroom counter, no place to put used hand soap bar. Dirty hand towel taken but no clean one left (twice had to call desk). Bakery in lobby not anything special, after reviews thought it would be good. But it wasn’t. Room entry Doors slam if you don’t hold them, and each guest learns with a slam. Slow and tiny (4 person) elevator. Bed was fine but pillows were not. Got stiff neck two nights. Staff very friendly. "

"Our stay at this hotel was disappointing from the start. The room had an unpleasant odor, and the overall condition raised concerns about maintenance and cleanliness. The bathroom lacked an exhaust vent, and the mirror appeared to be a peeling sticker rather than a proper fixture. Several outlets and light switches were noticeably crooked, and the carpet was in very poor condition—we even found a nail clipper on the floor, which was unacceptable. Additionally, a drawer handle was broken and left hanging throughout our stay without being repaired. The elevator situation made things worse. With only two elevators serving a large hotel, they were consistently overcrowded and stopped on nearly every floor, making it frustrating to get around. We had originally booked a five-night stay, but due to a flight delay, we arrived late. Unfortunately, our reserved room had been given away. While the staff eventually provided another room, it appeared to be of significantly lower quality. Finally, our experience at the front desk was not welcoming. Ana, the attendant who assisted us, came across as unfriendly and lacked a customer-focused approach from the beginning. Overall, this was not the level of service or quality we expected."

"The front desk staff is not very friendly at this hotel. We had a leak in our sink the first night of check-in and they did not even offer to change our room. I had to request the change and they did not even apologize for the inconvenience. The hotel needs a make over, everything felt old and dirtly."

"Great property close to Times Square. Rooms are small with no fridge or microwave, but this is an old, historic, well-kept property that we would definitely return to. Get to know "Bobby the Doorman", he's been there for 47 years!! Breakfast at Friedman's was great."
