"Surprisingly charming little motel. Checkin staff was super friendly and helpful - offered us free bike and kayak rentals which was unexpected. It sits right on a little creek with pretty quick access to the sound. Apparently it was someone’s birthday and they were throwing a little party on the grounds - there’s a small stage, they had live music, free food. We had plans so we didn’t go but it was nice to be invited. :) It’s clearly been around for a long time but seemed to be pretty recently renovated inside. Everything was clean and comfortable. Just about as convenient as Buxton gets - directly across from the lighthouse road. Walk to the beach is just a few minutes."

"We had 15 people in our group. We had a great time and all the amenities were wonderful. We utilized everything in the home. The kitchen is filled with a ton of pots, pans and even has a crockpot!! Plenty of sitting, which was awesome for us. All bedrooms and bathrooms were great. I do have to admit that there were a few of us got into bed and noted sand in our beds. Cleanliness of the home , we were not satisfied. I cleaned walls, cabinets and floors. Besides those few things we had a great time!"

"Soundside “beach” was a sludgy mess, though the dock itself was very nice. For a fairly new home, there was a lot of mold found in many of the rooms- including under the sink rims and inside toilets. If we’d visited during peak season and paid 19k I would be extremely disappointed."

"This place in person is even better than the pictures online. It also is so clean and allows pets so that is incredible. There is a great selection of games and puzzles as well as some chairs and beach gear in a box below the house. Close enough to the community pool and restaurants/grocery store to bike which was added more fun beach vacation vibes. This was great for our extended family of 8!"

"I can’t say enough about our stay in Avon at the McMullen property! Our large family had a magical week of swimming sound-side, kayaking in the sound, family meals and games, days on the gorgeous beaches, learning to surf, and enjoying amazing sunsets every night. We even had front row seats to the meteor showers! Nat is the most responsive host we’ve ever had and she answered all of our questions right away. We had a family photo shoot at sunset and got some priceless photos. The property is expansive, well maintained, and includes everything you need for a beautiful vacation. We would absolutely stay there again!"
