"Check in was nice and quick, room was of decent size with comfy beds and a clean bathroom.
For the money, its good value and I would book again when travelling to this area."
"We had a wonderful stay at the Old Fleece. The Studio apartment was lovely, spacious and had everything you could need for a few days away. A fantastic small kitchen with fridge, dishwasher, microwave and induction hob.
The staff were wonderful, happy to help in any way. We will definitely visit again."

"Beautiful hotel grounds, staff are extremely friendly, rooms are very clean but a little dated - the bathtub and shower had very obvious signs of wear with cracked tiles, very old and outdated shower taps, stains and scratches on the bottom of the tub. The provided toiletries gels were a lovely quality (The White Company) and the view from the room was so gorgeous. The stay was quiet and we barely heard other guests or noise from outside. We would have liked a bigger bed for the room rate, although what was provided was comfortable. The TV and the provided fan need updating for it to be true luxury. The restaurant staff were so lovely, and the food was excellent! Drinks were of excellent choice too and my dirty martini was delicious. Definitely recommend eating and drinking on-site. Thank you for a lovely stay! "
"The owner contacted us with detailed information regarding check-in, breakfasts, places to eat etc before arrival. The room was lovely and the bathroom luxurious. The breakfasts were beautiful - muesli, yoghurt, fresh fruit from the garden, fresh coffee, toast and warm croissants. It was a lovely break. The house is very close to the little village of Painswick, a walk or very short drive from Slad, Laurie Lee country."
The Chairman's Retreat, Slad, The Cotswolds, Gloucestershire. Space to relax.
10/10 Excellent
"The Chairman’s Retreat is a beautiful, very well appointed home. Four very pleasant bedrooms, with lovely, fresh, crisp, bed linens. The kitchen is superbly equipped, and has a fabulous cooking range with a couple of ovens, grill, and warming drawer. The views of Frith Woods and the Slad Valley are breathtaking. Chris and Suzanne were very welcoming, and Chris was so helpful (and a great baker to boot. His home-made flapjacks were delicious). They stocked up the ‘fridge with supplies for our first night, and breakfast. Very much appreciated.Thank you so much to you both for being fabulous hosts."
"My husband and I stayed at the Mill House Cottage for 3 nights. When I booked the cottage I had great communication via Expedia and was informed that 24 hours prior to check in I would receive check in instructions by email but I never did. I finally called them directly at which point the representative emailed the instructions to me with a google maps link to the property location since the homes do not have street numbers in that area. The google map link took us to a location about a mile from the cottage but we drove around and eventually found it.The parking is very tight & in front of the only door to the cottage. there were issues that made our stay unpleasant: the hot water tank is in the bedroom near the foot of the bed. It beeps, turns on a blue light, and flushes periodically throughout the day and night and woke us up repeatedly every night as the cottage is otherwise completely quiet. Additionally the fire alarm above the bed has a light that flashes continually which isn’t noticeable until one is in the dark. In the bathroom there is only a tub, no shower, and there was no towel bar or hooks for the bath towels, only one short bar for the two hand towels. There was no tub mat or bath mat and both floor and tub were very slippery when wet. Lastly, per instructions we took the garbage to the outside bins upon departure but found them overflowing with no room for much more. We cannot recommend due to lack of local management to assist with these types of issues."
