While the nature and property were stunning and the villas were generously sized the cleanliness and staff helpfulness was very poor .there were very large bugs in the shower and tons of dust below the beds and one of our beds was not made at all .we only received one tiny bar of hand soap for a 3 bedroom ,6 ppl villa and when we ask for toiletries and extra toilet paper we received only 2 sets of shampoo and shower gel as a one time courtesy , any more...
"Il Castagnolo was the perfect quick Tuscan stay for our family. The accommodations are pleasant and comfortable. The pool is cold and overlooks the beautiful countryside, and it’s a very quick ride into San Gimignano town as well as surrounding Tuscan vineyards."

"The hotel is in an excellent position so close to restaurants and museum . It has a great rooftop. The breakfast was excellent and the service was great. The owner was very accomodating and friendly. He even wheeled our heaving suitcases to the car. Would recommend this hotel and will be back "
"The apartment is very conveniently located near all the major attractions in Volterra. It was very comfortable and clean with a large, modern bathroom and nicely appointed kitchen. There is parking not too far away and we used the recommended parking app so we didn’t have to constantly add hours or minutes to our parking. We did get permission to drive into the ZTL zone to drop off our luggage but I would not recommend doing that unless one has a very small car and are comfortable driving into narrow alleys. The apartment is on three floors so it is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. We are in our 70s and didn’t have any issues but hauling suitcases up stairs might be a problem for some."
"The host, Francesco, was very responsive; the accommodation itself was clean although very dated; it was in a good location just inside the city walls. However, the description states that parking is available- I was sent a link to 4 separate public parking lots- 3 paid and 1 free- there was zero availability. I stated this to Francesco who adamantly told me to refer to the description stating parking is available but not a private lot- and as I previously stated, there was no parking available many times, in any of the lots. Just want others to be aware as I didn’t see this in any reviews and when I see that parking is available- whether public or private- I assume there will be a spot somewhere without having to drive around for over an hour and then walk a very good distance.
