Hotel Astoria

"The hotel is a 4minute walk from Brignole train station. Normally I wouldn’t stay that close to a train station but this one makes an excellent exception. It is up a hill from the station and in a terrific location to explore Genoa. Within in 5-10 minutes of walking you are in the main shopping areas of Genoa. There are tons of little restaurants featuring focaccia bread and other treats. The hotel is spotless, beautifully appointed with clean and modern rooms. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was very good with a great assortment of breakfast food and some sweet treats as well. On our opinion it is the best place to stay in Genoa!"

"This hotel is perfectly located on a beautiful and busy street (but there wasn't issues with sound). You walk out and immediately are on a main shopping strip. This location is also a couple minutes from the bus stop, which made getting around easy. You have to go up a couple steps then you can either take the stairs or the elevator (so glad it was working!!). Hotel reception is on Floor 1, our rooms were on Floor 3. Reception was very kind and helpful. We got the breakfast (which we don't typically do), but it was worth it. It was very simple, but very taste. The pastries and bread were fresh and the fruit was local and delicious. There was also yogurt, cereal, meat and cheese, and fresh juice. The rooms are pretty basic. We loved that the windows could open so you could hear the bell chimes and see the street. AC worked well, plenty of clean towels, bathroom was very clean. The bed is made with only sheets, but blankets are in the closet. There isn't much hanging space - not even for a towel, which would be more convenient to have (unless you want to hang it on a hanger in the closet). Space between toilet and sink is quite tight. Bed wasnt the most comfortable, but good enough."

"Best thing about this place is its location, right in the centre of Genoa. The breakfast is worth giving a wide birth even at 8 euros per head. No hotwater for tea and no butter or spread, even when I asked. Plenty of decent cheap bakeries close by. I had some issues with broken toilet seat and lack of clothes hangers but rectified by Antonio quickly. He was excellent and so helpful. The rooms were well kept and clean, good shower and excellent bed and very quiet so for those reasons would definitely go back."
